NEEDHAM, Mass., March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PTC(R) (Nasdaq: PMTC)
today announced that FCI, a company of the Areva Group specializing in
connectors and interconnect systems, has selected PTC's Windchill PDMLink(TM)
and Windchill ProjectLink(TM) solutions to complete its product development
system. FCI Automotive, one of FCI's divisions, already uses PTC's
Pro/ENGINEER(R). The agreement was finalized in PTC's fiscal 2004 first
quarter ending January 3, 2004.
By providing a single source of data for FCI's 14 design departments
throughout the world, Windchill PDMLink will enable FCI to improve its "Design
Anywhere and Build Anywhere" business initiative. Designers will be able to
easily access the right data at the right time while facilitating concurrent
engineering.
Windchill ProjectLink will support and automate FCI's PACE(R) (Product And
Cycle-time Excellence) process. Global teams will be able to more effectively
collaborate and execute on projects by having easy access to all the latest
corporate templates, project files, and plan information.
With the adoption of PTC's Product Development System, FCI expects to
accelerate time-to-market for its connectors while reducing costs for product
development and promoting technological innovation.
"The addition of Windchill completes our Product Development System, which
is a key element in the development of FCI Automotive's IT infrastructure.
The Product Development System represents a single development platform for
all activities during the product lifecycle. Engineers will be able to create
accurate product models, collaborate with co-workers around the world on the
development of products, and control the process to drive consensus on designs
sooner," says Marc Moulinier, VP and General Manager of FCI Automotive.
Since 1994, FCI has deployed 450 licenses of Pro/ENGINEER throughout its
entire design and manufacturing process for connectors and tooling.
"FCI, by combining the two market-leading product development solutions,
Windchill and Pro/ENGINEER, into an integral product development system, can
now realize the benefits of true product lifecycle management," says PTC
Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer James Heppelmann.
PTC's product development system enables companies like FCI to more easily
implement product lifecycle management (PLM), while meeting the increasingly
complex challenges of product development. This system consists of an
interoperable architecture that enables seamless integration with
heterogeneous CAD systems, powerful federation capabilities for maintaining
data in a mixed system environment, standards-based integration using
commercial enterprise application integration (EAI) technology, and a Web
services infrastructure.
