Activplant Continues March Toward Global Manufacturing Intelligence Standard for Automotive

    DETROIT, March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Activplant(TM) Corporation announced
today at the 2004 Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) World Congress that
its enterprise manufacturing intelligence system Activplant is now in use at
six of the world's largest automakers, including Ford, DaimlerChrysler, and
Toyota.
Each of these companies is using Activplant to monitor production and
quality from a wide variety of sources in real time. By feeding data real-
time into a manufacturing intelligence solution, users can more quickly
identify factors affecting quality and throughput and more quickly prevent
issues leading to downtime or lost jobs. Unplanned maintenance is reduced,
recalls and warranty issues become more manageable, resources are optimized,
and the link between the plant floor and enterprise systems such as ERP
becomes measurably stronger.
"In 2001 we set out to establish Activplant as the de facto standard for a
manufacturing intelligence solution in the automotive industry," said
Activplant president and CEO Dennis Cocco. "Today our market momentum with
OEMs, Tier 1, and Tier 2 auto suppliers shows we are achieving that objective.
Automotive manufacturers need to know what they can do with the information
from the plant floor to gain a competitive advantage. The manufacturing
process itself needs to be an active part of the competitive process and that
is what Activplant delivers."
Activplant is also collecting production metrics from thousands of plant
floor machines at many of the world's largest Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive
suppliers including: Accuride, ArvinMeritor, Bridgestone, Dana, Delphi,
Draexlmaier, GKN, Hayes Lemmerz, Lear, Magna, Robert Bosch Australia, Tower
Automotive, TRW, Visteon, Webasto, Wescast Industries and ZF. Built with
Microsoft's .NET, Activplant provides solutions that enable scaleability,
connectivity, and ease of integration both within and throughout the
enterprise.
