LEXINGTON, Mass., and FARNBOROUGH, England, July 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has established a new major business
organization dedicated to homeland security and has appointed Dr. Hugo B. Poza
to lead it as vice president, Homeland Security. Based in Falls Church, Va.,
Poza will report to Raytheon Company President William H. Swanson.
Poza had been serving in an interim role since March 2002 leading
Raytheon's efforts to establish a homeland security mission area. Before that
he was vice president and general manager of Strategic Systems, a Fall Church,
Va., unit of the company's Command, Control, Communication and Information
(C3I) Systems business.
"My job is to focus on providing customers with technologies, solutions
and services to protect borders, airports, ports, airspace, computer networks,
and to assist first responders in crises and disasters," Poza said. "To
accomplish this, I will be able to draw upon Raytheon's considerable
capabilities and talents across the company."
Poza discussed the company's home defense and security capabilities today
during a briefing at the Farnborough International Air Show outside of London.
In a related appointment, Raytheon named Edmund Woollen to assist Poza as
vice president, Business Development and Marketing for Raytheon's new Homeland
Security organization. Woollen had been mission area executive of Raytheon's
Integrated Information Systems at the company's corporate office in Arlington,
Va., since May 1999.
