Simmons Employees Help Victims of Tsunami Tragedy

                    Company-Wide Initiative Raises $37,000
for American Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund

    ATLANTA, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- On December 26th, a tidal wave created
by the largest earthquake in four decades ripped apart the lives of millions
of people and families living along the coasts of the Indian Ocean.
What began with associates asking what they and their company could do to
help the millions of people affected by the recent tsunami disaster in Asia,
Simmons Bedding Company, one of the world's largest mattress manufacturers, is
contributing over $37,000 of individual and corporate contributions to the
American Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund.
The check will be presented to the American Red Cross and local
representatives of some of the affected countries on March 23rd, during a
Simmons corporate meeting attended by Atlanta-area associates.
As Simmons associates at 17 plants across the United States and its
corporate headquarters facility in Atlanta learned of the devastating tsunami,
they began to ask how they and their company could help. Modest checks of
$10 to as large as $1,000 came from associates at all levels of the
organization. The senior leadership team decided the corporation would match
the contributions, bringing the total to $37,000.
"The response from our associates was incredible! Through their initiative
and caring, together we hope to make a small difference in helping rebuild the
lives of those stricken by the tragedy," said Rhonda Rousch, executive vice
president of human resources.
Simmons has a long history of supporting local charities and investing in
communities where it does business.
