Stuart Altman, Ph.D. Joins INSPIRIS Board of Directors

    Appointment broadens reach of expanding care and care management
company



    BRENTWOOD, Tenn., March 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- INSPIRIS, the
Brentwood, Tenn.-based provider of care management for the frail elderly,
announced today that well-known economist and health care policy expert
Stuart Altman has been appointed to its board of directors.



    INSPIRIS is an expert care and care management company focused on
improving the quality of life for the frail elderly, the chronically ill
and those with disabilities, while reducing the cost to Medicare Advantage,
Medicaid and commercial health plans.



    Altman comes to the INSPIRIS Board of Directors following a period of
rapid growth and service expansion. In 2007, INSPIRIS added seven new
service line contracts and began operations in the North/Central Florida
Daytona and Philadelphia markets. INSPIRIS now meets the care and care
management needs of qualifying members on behalf of multiple Medicare and
Medicaid health plans representing more than 400,000 senior members in six
states.



    Altman is dean of The Heller School for Social Policy & Management and
Sol C. Chaikin Professor of National Health Policy at Brandeis University.
He has both a master's degree and doctorate in economics from the
University of California, Los Angeles, and taught at Brown University and
the Graduate School of Public Policy at the University of California at
Berkeley.

    A prolific writer of books and journal articles on health care payment
systems and economic policy, Altman was listed in 2006 by Health Affairs as
among the authors of the 25 Most-Read Health Affairs Papers and 25
Most-Read Health Affairs Papers Overall online. Modern Healthcare,
Celebrating 30 years, listed Altman among the 30 people who have had the
most influence on health care over the past 30 years; and also named him
for five years among the 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare. In June
2004, he was awarded the AcademyHealth Distinguished Investigator Award.



    From 2000 to 2002 Altman was co-chair for the Legislative Health Care
Task Force for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In 1997, he was appointed
by President Clinton to the National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of
Medicare. He served as chairman of the congressionally-legislated
Prospective Payment Assessment Commission for twelve years. ProPac was
responsible for advising the U.S. Congress and the Administration on the
functioning of the Medicare Diagnostic Related Group (DRG) Hospital Payment
System and other system reforms.



    Altman is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy
of Sciences; a member of the board of Tufts-New England Medical Center in
Boston; and cochairman of the Advisory Board to the Schneider Institute for
Health Policy at the Heller School for Social Policy & Management, Brandeis
University. He is chair of the Council on Health Care Economics and Policy,
a private non-partisan group whose mission is to analyze important economic
aspects of the U.S. health care system and evaluate proposed changes in the
system. He is also chair of the Health Industry Forum which brings together
diverse group leaders from across the health care field to develop
solutions for critical problems facing the health care system. He currently
serves as a member of the board of directors for Aveta, EmblemHealth, Inc.
and Lincare.
