Risk Doctor(TM) Helps University of North Carolina Healthcare Meet Security Requirements

FALLS CHURCH, Va., March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company has
successfully implemented Risk Doctor(TM) at University of North Carolina
Healthcare to identify compliance issues with the Health Insurance Portability
and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security rule.
Risk Doctor is an automated survey-based tool that simultaneously performs
the HIPAA security required gap analysis and risk assessment. The resultant
report clearly outlines the required measures necessary for HIPAA security
compliance and offers additional recommendations consistent with commercial
best practices.
"The flexibility of the Risk Doctor tool proved especially useful in
allowing us to perform gap analyses [and risk assessments] against both HIPAA
compliance standards and industry best practices, while simultaneously 'fine-
tuning' our acceptable levels of risk," said David Houlette, UNC Healthcare's
information systems support manager. "Raytheon's considerable security
expertise and experience adds credibility to the outcomes and compliance
recommendations in the final report."
Raytheon's security expertise, based on work with the Department of
Defense and other agencies, was applied to the healthcare community in order
to meet HIPAA's special security requirements. Powered by commercial off-the-
shelf software, Risk Doctor is based on HIPAA security regulations and
modified input from NCHICA's (North Carolina Healthcare Information and
Communications Alliance) HIPAA EarlyView(TM) Security.
With headquarters in Lexington, Mass., Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) is a
global technology leader in defense, government and commercial electronics,
information technology, and business and special mission aircraft and special
mission aircraft.
