EGL Eagle Global Logistics Announces Management Promotions; CFO Resigns

    HOUSTON, March 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EGL Eagle Global Logistics
(Nasdaq: EAGL), a leading global freight forwarder and logistics provider,
today announced that Charles H. Leonard, its Chief Financial Officer,
resigned effective March 9, 2007. The Company also announced that Gregory
W. Weigel, Keith W. Winters, Michael D. Slaughter, William W. LaMothe and
Samuel B. Slater were appointed to new executive positions.
    Weigel, a 23-year veteran of the transportation and logistics industry,
has been named Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, Weigel will have
global responsibility for freight management, gateway and branch
operations, product strategy, carrier procurement and strategic account
management. Weigel joined the company in 1997 and has held both regional
and executive management positions at EGL, most recently, Executive Vice
President of Global Transportation. Weigel graduated from Weber State
University with a B.S. in Finance.
    Winters has been appointed Chief Administrative Officer and will be
responsible for all global and corporate administrative functions for human
resources, finance and treasury, information technology, quality
performance and management, real estate, safety, security and risk
management. Winters is also a 23-year industry veteran including eight
years at EGL with regional and executive level experience. Winters received
his undergraduate degree from Kent State in Ohio and his MBA from the
University of Texas at Dallas. He has earned continuing education
certificates in Risk Management, Insurance and Financial Planning from
Florida State University.
    Slaughter, a 19-year accounting professional with 14 years of
transportation experience, has been promoted to Chief Accounting Officer.
His duties will include the strategic, global management of all financial
information and procedures, including planning, auditing, risk management,
reporting and compliance. Before his appointment, Slaughter held the
position of Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations, and other
financial positions with the Company. He is a graduate of the University of
Texas at Austin, passed the CPA exam in 1996 and spent five years as a
senior auditor for the accounting firm, Price Waterhouse, before joining
EGL in 1993.
    LaMothe, a 26-year veteran of the transportation and logistics
industry, joins EGL as Executive Vice President of Global Logistics. In his
role, LaMothe will provide strategic planning, direction and solution based
leadership for the development and implementation of global logistics
initiatives that focus on new business and operational efficiencies. Most
recently an asset manager for Dillon Partnership Ltd, LaMothe was
previously Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Exel Global Logistics,
President and Chief Executive Officer for Exel North America Logistics and
President and Chief Executive Officer of Sky King Freight Systems, a
company he founded in 1990. LaMothe was one of the founders of the
University of North Texas Logistics School Endowment and in 2002 he was
awarded the "Logistics Practitioner of the Year" by the Council of
Logistics Management.
    Slater has been appointed Executive Vice President of Domestic
Operations and will be responsible for inbound operations, residential and
other business to consumer business, linehaul operations and administrative
efficiency. With 23 years experience in transportation and logistics,
Slater joined EGL in 1997 and has held both regional and executive
management positions. Slater graduated from Weber State University with a
B.S. in Business Administration.
