Bio-logic Systems Corp. Launches Three New Products At American Academy of Audiology Conference This Month

                            New Audiology Products
-- Navigator(R) Pro -- Industry's First Portable Diagnostic Platform With
       Multiple Screening Options
    -- ABaer(TM) -- Only Portable, Cost-effective Screening System Offering
Three Methodologies in a Single Unit
-- Transient OAE - Preferred Hearing Screening Methodology in Europe Now
Available Worldwide on Company's Screening Platforms

    MUNDELEIN, Ill., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio-logic Systems Corp.
(Nasdaq: BLSC), a designer and marketer of computerized medical
electrodiagnostic equipment, today announced the launch of its Navigator(R)
Pro System, the industry's first modular, portable system offering all three
standard hearing screening options as well as diagnostic capabilities in a
single unit. This cost-effective, state-of-the-art platform will be
introduced at the American Academy of Audiology conference in Chicago,
March 16-18, 2000. Additionally, the company will showcase its recently
FDA-cleared ABaer(TM) (automated brainstem auditory evoked response) system
that offers the industry's three leading screening methodologies in a single,
expandable platform. A third new product, the transient otoacoustic emissions
(TEOAE) screening methodology, which is offered on any of Bio-logic's three
screening platform, including ABaer, will also be introduced this week.
With more than four million births annually in the U.S., increasing
legislation mandating infant hearing screenings, and necessary re-testing of a
certain percentage of patients, the market potential for Bio-logic's all-in-
one technology platforms and low-cost, interchangeable disposables is
substantial.
"Being able to offer the full spectrum of hearing screening technologies
on the same system that offers diagnostic capabilities boosts our competitive
advantage in audiology, and expands that potential customer base," said
Gabriel Raviv, chief executive officer. "Our modular platforms provide cost-
effective use of one or multiple products that suit the various needs and
preferences of all levels of healthcare practitioners from nurses to
specialists. Our software programs facilitate readability, accelerate review
of extensive data, and are equipped with substantial data storage capacity.
Finally, Bio-logic is the low-cost provider of interchangeable disposables, an
important source of recurring revenue for us. So the same type of ear probe
tip used for Navigator Pro can be used just as effectively for any of our
three screening products. The combination of our comprehensive, modular
platforms, broad product line, proprietary software and competitively priced
disposables coupled with very favorable trends in audiology position Bio-logic
for exciting long-term growth in this market."
Expanding upon the capabilities of its ABaer platform, which offers three
screening options -- two OAE (transient and distortion product otoacoustic
emissions) and one automated ABR (auditory brainstem response) -- Bio-logic's
Navigator Pro adds diagnostic capabilities through ABR technology for
audiologists to use on those patients who fail two or more screening tests.
Prior to a diagnostic test, advanced screenings by nurses, pediatricians or
audiologists using ABaer may be required to corroborate results from a basic
pass/refer hearing test using one of the OAE options. ABaer may also be the
sole, preferred screening methodology in certain segments. Transient OAE, a
new product for Bio-logic, was first used for newborn screening in Europe and
is the preferred methodology in many international countries. Offering this
technology through its screening platforms should provide Bio-logic access to
new markets by addressing every customer's preference.
Bio-logic now markets a full line of audiology products offered as
stand-alone technologies, or as part of a comprehensive, expandable platform:
-- Scout(R) Sport - Laptop-based system for screening and diagnostic TEOAE
       and DPOAE,
-- AuDX(R) - Handheld diagnostic or screening DPOAE system,
-- AuDX(R) Plus - Laptop and handheld system for screening and diagnostic
       TEOAE and DPOAE,
-- ABaer(TM) - Automated ABR and dual OAE screening system, and
Navigator(R) Pro - ABR diagnostic and automated ABR/dual OAE screening
       system.

The company markets these products through a team of sales representatives
as well as a global distribution network. In support of internal marketing
programs, Bio-logic has retained a leading medical marketing firm to advise on
the launch of the new products and to initiate expanded advertising and
promotional campaigns.
With more than 4,000 systems installed worldwide and three low-cost
disposable options -- more than any other company -- Bio-logic is now better
positioned than ever to compete in the sizeable hearing screening and
diagnostic market. The company has a leading domestic market share in both
OAE screening and ABR diagnostics.
Currently, there are 27 states mandating infant hearing screening and a
growing number of other states with the issue in legislation. According to
the company, while the legislation has been passed, most of these states,
including heavily populated New York, Texas and California, will not begin
implementing routine hearing screening programs until June 2000, with full-
scale programs in place during 2001. Navigator Pro and ABaer sales momentum
should coincide with the implementation and expansion of these programs.
Now that more states are passing laws on hearing screening and
intervention, the American Medical Association has approved expanded
reimbursement codes to cover routine screenings as well as comprehensive
hearing testing.
On average, most children born with hearing loss go undetected until they
are almost three years old, according to a study by the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention. At this late stage, the negative impact on speech and
language development may be difficult, if not impossible to overcome. With
AuDX, ABaer and Navigator Pro, hearing loss can be detected at birth,
improving patients' chances for normal language and learning function, and
success in a regular education setting.
Bio-logic Systems Corp., headquartered in Mundelein, Ill., designs,
develops, assembles and markets computer-based electrodiagnostic systems for
use by hospitals, clinics, universities and physicians. The systems conduct
tests that are typically used by medical practitioners to aid in the diagnosis
of certain neurological disorders, brain disorders and tumors, and sensory
disorders, including audiological and hearing screening and diagnosis.
