Magellan Booth 6269 to Showcase ESA and Dynex Products Designed for Ease of Use, High Performance, and Improved Customer Results at PITTCON 2006

    CHELMSFORD, Mass., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Magellan Biosciences, a
leading provider of advanced detection, automated sample handling, and
complete solutions for biomedical research and clinical-diagnostic
applications, will highlight products designed to improve outcomes from
discovery to diagnostics at PITTCON 2006, held March 12-17 in Orlando,
Florida. ESA will launch the Corona(TM) Plus Charged Aerosol Detector
(CAD(TM)), which builds on its award-winning Corona CAD to add greater
compatibility with solvents used in industrial, chemical, and polymer
analyses. Dynex will preview its new DS2(TM), an automated ELISA processing
system designed for the needs of demanding lower-throughput labs -- from
immunology to infectious disease, drug discovery, food safety, and drugs-of-
abuse testing.
"Great things happen when you work directly with potential customers, ask
them what they need to do their jobs more effectively, design your new
products accordingly, and deliver the utmost in quality and service," said
Magellan's President and CEO, Robert J. Rosenthal. "They turn into loyal
customers who will buy more of what you have to offer, and turn to you every
time they have a new analytical challenge to solve. Simply put, we are
successful when we help our discovery and diagnostic customers to be
successful. We're pleased that's been our experience with ESA's Corona CAD,
last year's winner of the PITTCON Editors' Silver Award. Today, Corona is
deployed at every major pharmaceutical and biotech company worldwide. These
companies are developing a wide range of Corona-based methods for analytical
development, process analytical, and manufacturing QC, and are transferring
them in record time to their facilities around the world. Consequently, sales
of the Corona continue to accelerate."
"We expect that Dynex's DS2 will likewise fill an important unmet need in
the marketplace. There are thousands of labs around the world that have long
wanted the benefits that a high-performance automated system brings --
improved reliability, accuracy, security, and ease of use -- but with their
throughput needs, they couldn't justify the expense of a large system. We are
confident the DS2 will be successful because it is designed to deliver exactly
what its customer base has been asking for: it is a two-plate, open system
that performs the entire complement of analytical steps required for virtually
any ELISA immunoassay. The DS2 features the most advanced and user-friendly
controls available, operating as a full walk-away system with sample
ID-bar-code reading, chain-of-custody, and instrument-diagnostic
capabilities."
Other ESA highlights include its new streamlined, Version 3.0 CoulArray(R)
application software -- now fully compliant with FDA 21 CFR Part 11; a new
direct interface with Agilent Technologies' ChemStation(R) chromatography
software for the company's Corona CAD and Coulochem III HPLC detectors; as
well as its recently launched BioStat(TM) multi-mode potentiostat, which is
compatible with virtually any electrochemical sensor or electrode. Also on
view will be Dynex's TRIAD(TM) multimode fluorescence, luminescence, and
absorbance reader, the Spectra MR(TM) scanning microplate spectrophotometer,
and the MLX(TM) luminometer.
