Cardinal Health Names Michael C. Kaufmann to Lead Pharmaceutical Segment

    DUBLIN, Ohio, March 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cardinal Health, a
global provider of products and services that improve the safety and
productivity of health care, today announced the appointment of company
veteran Michael C. Kaufmann as group president of its Healthcare Supply
Chain Services Pharmaceutical Segment.

In this role, Kaufmann, 45, will be responsible for Cardinal Health's
largest business, which provides logistics services to pharmaceutical
manufacturers, distributes approximately one-third of all medicine
prescribed in the U.S. to hospitals, pharmacies and other providers of
care, operates the nation's leading network of specialized nuclear
pharmacies and is the largest franchisor of pharmacies in the U.S.

Kaufmann was most recently responsible for the turnaround of Cardinal
Health's medical supply chain business and has spent the majority of his
17- year career with the company in senior operational, sales and finance
roles within the pharmaceutical business. He was instrumental in
strengthening financial performance within pharmaceutical distribution by
leading the company's transition to a fee-based service model.

He replaces Scott A. Storrer, who will leave the company later this
month. Kaufmann will continue to report to George S. Barrett, 52, vice
chairman of Cardinal Health and CEO of the company's Healthcare Supply
Chain Services sector.

"Mike is a proven leader and a clear choice to accelerate the
turnaround of our pharmaceutical business," Barrett said. "He has deep
supply chain expertise that will help us strengthen our execution and
long-term customer relationships that give him a unique perspective as we
work to enhance our offerings."

The company said it does not intend to fill the position Kaufmann
formerly held in the medical supply chain business at this time and instead
will have those senior leaders report directly to Barrett.

Kaufmann graduated from Ohio Northern University with a degree in
accounting and management. He became a certified public accountant early in
his career while employed by Arthur Andersen. His appointment is effective
immediately.
