ATLANTA, March 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Powell Goldstein LLP
announced today its expansion in three of its offices with the addition of
four lateral hires - two in Charlotte, one in Dallas and one in Atlanta.
B.T. Atkinson, a partner in the Financial Institutions practice, and Barney
Stewart III, counsel in the Business and Finance practice, join the firm's
Charlotte office. Bruce Howell joins the Dallas office as counsel where he
will work closely with the firm's national Health Care practice to grow
this practice area in the Dallas market. Roy Hadley joins the Atlanta
office as counsel in the Business and Finance practice and will focus on
complex corporate transactions involving intellectual property and
technology matters.

In the Charlotte Office:
B.T. Atkinson
Mr. Atkinson comes to Powell Goldstein with extensive experience in the
community banking industry, including organization, compliance and mergers
and acquisitions. He also has extensive experience representing other
public and private companies in securities, corporate governance and
acquisition matters. Mr. Atkinson holds a Juris Doctor from the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, from
the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is admitted to the North
Carolina Bar. Mr. Atkinson is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive
status) and an advisory board member for the Belk College of Business at
the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mr. Atkinson was previously
with Moore & Van Allen PLLC.
Barney Stewart
Mr. Stewart joins Powell Goldstein with a wealth of securities and
corporate transaction industry knowledge. He has extensive experience
representing public and private clients in mergers and acquisitions,
private placements and public debt or equity securities offerings. Mr.
Stewart holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor
of Arts degree from Yale University. Prior to law school, Mr. Stewart was
an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1961-1964. He
has spoken frequently on securities law issues for the North Carolina Bar
Foundation and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Stewart
was previously with Moore & Van Allen PLLC.
In the Dallas Office:
Bruce Howell
Mr. Howell adds additional experience to Powell Goldstein's national
Health Care practice focusing on reimbursement and transactional matters,
mergers and acquisitions, clinical trial and research matters and fraud and
abuse counseling. Mr. Howell was previously with Kirkpatrick & Lockhart
Preston Gates Ellis LLP. He holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Arts
degree from the University of Michigan as well as a Master of Science
degree in Biology and Statistical Genetics from the University of North
Texas. He is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in
Health Law and is admitted to the Texas and New York Bars. He also
co-founded the Dallas Bar Association Health Care Section.
In the Atlanta Office:
Roy Hadley
Mr. Hadley brings extensive experience counseling clients in complex
corporate transactions with a particular focus on those involving
information security and privacy, intellectual property and technology
outsourcing. He was previously with Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP. Mr.
Hadley holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Business Administration in
Finance from the University of Georgia and is admitted to the Georgia Bar.
He has served as general counsel and chief privacy officer in the corporate
sector. Mr. Hadley is a frequent speaker on information technology and
outsourcing arrangements, data security and privacy, intellectual property
issues and compliance matters.
