CONMED Subsidiary Linvatec and Val Med to Showcase Integrated OR Technology at AORN Conference in Dallas, Texas

UTICA, N.Y., March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- CONMED Corporation (Nasdaq: CNMD)
announced today that its subsidiary, Linvatec Corporation, a leader in
arthroscopy and powered surgical instruments, and Val Med, a company
specializing in surgical suite design, recently finalized a formal five-year
partnership to co-market their respective products as an integrated product
offering. The partnership will position the two organizations for a
leadership role in the Integrated OR market. The two companies will showcase
this week their advanced Integrated OR technology at the Association of
Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) conference in Dallas, Texas.
The combination of CONMED, Linvatec and Val Med products provides an
effective turnkey solution for customers who are looking for the latest in OR
technology integration. This combined product offering will improve OR
ergonomics and efficiencies, and provide patients with better surgical
outcomes. These improvements tend to enhance OR staff morale, simplify
training requirements and reduce employee turnover.
In addition, this high technology OR will allow hospitals and surgery
centers to create standard operating rooms that accommodate both endoscopic
and open surgical procedures for all surgical specialties. New products to be
showcased in the Integrated OR include: Linvatec endoscopic surgical
equipment, ConMed electrosurgical equipment, and Val Med flat screen video
monitors, video networking products, ceiling mounted service arms, surgical
lights*, and the Nurse's Assistant(TM)* -- an intuitive touch screen that
provides a single integrated user interface for control and setup of OR
procedures
Joseph J. Corasanti, President and Chief Operating Officer of CONMED
commented, "This partnership supports one of our major strategic
objectives -- integrating services and product solutions to increase operating
room productivity and decrease hospital costs. The power in this alliance is
our ability to provide turnkey solutions. Few companies in the medical device
market are providing such effective and diverse product offerings. CONMED is
now one of them."
The Integrated OR showcase will be featured this week at the AORN in
Dallas, Texas. Val Med's booth (Hall A, #537) will feature both CONMED and
Linvatec surgical products. In addition, Val Med will hold a press conference
from 8:30 to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, in the AORN Press room
(D-262, second floor) to discuss new ways of maximizing efficiency in the
