First Silicon Solutions and Accelerated Technology Partner to Create Comprehensive Tool Chain for the New MIPS32(TM) 4KE(TM) Cores

SAN FRANCISCO, March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- At the Embedded Systems Conference
today, First Silicon Solutions and Accelerated Technology announced the
availability of the first comprehensive integrated tool chain for MIPS32 4KE
Cores.
The tools combine key elements of the FS2 Navigator(R) suite of tools: the
Navigator OCI(R) which is standard in the MIPS core, the FS2 BlackBox(R)
hardware debugger, and Accelerated Technology's codelab(TM) Debug, for a
powerful, easy to use, source level debug interface that brings all the debug
features in the silicon out to the user's desktop.
OCI Technology consists of debug block logic integrated into the
synthesizable Verilog or VHDL core. A major benefit is the ability to support
complex multi-core and mixed-core designs. In addition, complementary
application specific IP can be added to the design. The application specific
IP can be used for a variety of tasks ranging from logic analysis and debug of
programmable logic FPGA elements embedded in the device, to performance
analysis, code coverage, and network protocol analysis in applications such as
complex network processors (http://www.fs2.com).
ATI's source-level debugger, codelab Debug, runs on the user's PC and
interfaces to the FS2 BlackBox using parallel or USB connections. code|lab
Debug (http://www.acceleratedtechnology.com) supports the industry standard GNU tools
for C, assembly and linker/locator utilities. It gives the user complete
visibility into the MIPS target CPU resources, memory, RTOS, task information,
source-level run-control, breakpoint settings, trace display, and a variety of
other project and target management features.
"For MIPS32 4KE Cores, FS2 is the first to seamlessly integrate everything
from trace and trigger features in the core, through a high-performance
hardware-assisted debugger that manages the debug block and development
system, to Accelerated Technology's codelab(TM) Debug, and GNU compiler
running on a Windows PC... making the first complete real-time trace enabled
tool chain. The advantage is significant time-to-market savings," said Rick
Leatherman, president, FS2.
"The combination of codelab Debug with the FS2 tool will bring
unprecedented benefits of a fully integrated suite of solutions to the MIPS
4KE users," said Michelle Hale, vice president of Marketing, Accelerated
Technology, Inc. "For the first time, customers will realize the benefits of
the FS2 on-chip instrumentation, on-chip and off-chip trace technology, with
the readily available GNU tool chain and codelab Debug complemented with
Accelerated Technology's Nucleus RTOS products."
