Nation's Top Two Food Regulators to Speak at the 7th Annual Food Safety Summit in Washington

  Conference and Expo Opens This Wednesday, March 16th at the Washington, DC
                              Convention Center

    WASHINGTON, March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- New US Secretary of Agriculture Mike
Johanns will join FDA Commissioner-Designate Les Crawford as keynote speakers
at The 7th Annual Food Safety Summit and Expo, the nation's largest and most
important expo and conference on food safety, quality assurance, and food
security.  Together, these two officials regulate every food product sold in
the United States. The Summit focuses on protecting the nation's food supply
from bacterial contamination like e-coli, as well as issues of food security
and counter-terrorism. Over 1,800 food manufacturers, processors, chain
restaurants and others will attend the event this week from
March 16-18, 2005, at the Washington D.C. Convention Center.

    HIGHLIGHTS:
     * On Friday, March 18th  FDA Commissioner -- Designate Les Crawford and
       Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns will deliver the keynote address
       starting at 10:00 a.m.  In addition, Doug Baker, CEO of EcoLab, will
       also be presenting a speech during this time.  On Thursday, March 17th
       Julius Walls, CEO of Greyston Bakery in Yonkers, NY will discuss how
       his commercial bakery trains ex-felons and otherwise unemployable,
       low-skilled workers to produce high quality foods.

     * More than 70 speakers from such household name food companies as Kraft,
       Tyson, McDonald's, Campbell's Soup, Pepsi-Cola, Kellogg Company, Gerber
       Foods, Sara Lee, ConAgra, Land O'Lakes, and Burger King will present on
       everything from preventing e-coli and listeria problems to food
       allergens in processed foods.

     * Over two-dozen new sessions have been added to this year's conference
       program.  On Wednesday, March 16th, the Food Products Association and
       Booz Allen Hamilton will present "Food Security & Bioterrorism:
       Tabletop Exercise and Simulation."  At the workshop, front-line leaders
       in government, law enforcement, and corporate security will discuss
       protecting products, securing facilities, and watching suppliers and
       staff. Attendees will experience a "live-fire" drill where they will
       develop an actual response plan to a food security scenario.

     * Over 200 exhibit booths of technologies for food safety will be on
       display. e-Foodsafety.com has an ozone sanitizer, emerge has a device
       to detect contamination by visually scanning cattle carcasses, food
       security and anti-terrorism methods will be on display, and much more.
