FOSE 2004 Gathers Momentum as Administration Sets New Budget Record of $59.1 Billion in Technology Spending

WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal IT spending continues to
outstrip private industry due to the nation's War on Terrorism, electronically
delivering services to U.S. citizens, strengthening the national enterprise
architecture, and forwarding other IT initiatives. To meet these needs, FOSE
2004, the nation's largest technology trade show and conference for the
government market, is assembling 450 technology companies at the Washington DC
Convention Center on March 23 to 25 to meet with nearly 20,000 government IT
buyers.
"The information technology industry rapidly responded to changing
government requirements in the face of a new reality over the last two years,"
said Bill Howell, Executive Vice President of PostNewsweek Tech Media and
General Manager of FOSE. "With Federal IT spending strong, FOSE is a critical
forum where government IT buyers can test drive solution sets for the broadest
array of government needs from e-government, homeland security, and military
mobility to citizen services."
Steve LeSueur, Editor, Washington Technology, the leading publication that
covers the business of government IT, remarked, "Regardless of what happens
this year in the commercial sector, the federal market will remain strong.
Our national leaders are calling for high-tech solutions for military and
homeland security needs. These days, e-gov is just-government. Overall, it's
hard to find any government operation or function that's not e-government in
some way."
"At the same time, it's still a hotly competitive market," underscored
Nick Wakeman, Senior Editor, Washington Technology. "Winning new customers,
hiring the right people and finding strong partners are still at the top of
the agenda for most industry executives."
FOSE 2004 will take place at the new Washington DC Convention Center from
Tuesday to Thursday, March 23-25, 2004. The trade show and education program
are free to government professionals. For more information about FOSE, visit
