WASHINGTON, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Ted Haggard, the newly appointed
president of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), is calling all
evangelical Christian Americans to unite in prayer for a last-minute, peaceful
resolution to the conflict with Iraq.
In his new role as head of the NAE, which represents a constituency of
more than 27 million evangelical Christians, Haggard is issuing a resounding
call to prayer for the Iraqi situation. "I encourage prayers for a peaceful
resolution to this situation. As the likelihood of armed conflict increases,
I ask Americans to pray for God to protect innocent lives, give wisdom to our
leaders and advance the cause of freedom."
Haggard, an effective communicator and conference speaker, is immediately
available for interviews relating to the evangelical perspective on Iraq and
other international events. As a spokesman for more than 27 million
evangelicals in America, and because of his world travels and long involvement
with a great variety of worldwide prayer efforts, he presents a unique view.
While continuing as president of The World Prayer Center, The World Prayer
Team and as a member of the Honorary Committee of The Presidential Prayer
Team, Haggard's knowledge of prayer and its impact on world events is
extensive. He says, "I consider it a special honor to represent the views of
evangelical Christians in America."

by Bill Moyers, U.S. News & World Report, the Los Angeles Times, the New York
Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Washington Post, the Denver Post, ABC, NBC the
BBC, the International News Network, and PBS.
