COLUMBIA, S.C., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Edens & Avant, the nation's
leading private retail real estate company, announced today that construction
is underway at Lexington's first Target-anchored center, Lexington Pavilion,
with the grand opening set for July 2007.
Situated on a 37-acre tract along Highway 378, Lexington's dominant retail
corridor, the center will encompass 230,000 square feet. The 127,000-square
foot Target is the retailer's first foray into Lexington. "Bringing Target to
the right location here has been a goal of ours for several years, and we are
extremely pleased our vision is playing out now," said Lyle Darnall, Edens &
Avant Vice President for Development - Southeast.
Groundbreaking at Lexington Pavilion culminates years of collaboration
between Lexington County, the Town of Lexington and Edens & Avant. Darnall
commented, "The County was a tremendous contributor to the project over the
last two years in working through traffic and permitting considerations while
the Town has been crucial in helping move the process along efficiently since
annexation. Both partnerships have been and will continue to be key in this
project."
With Target setting the stage, the center will be occupied primarily by
tenants new to the area. Darnall continued, "With the growth explosion that
has occurred here in the last 10 years, there are a number of retailers eager
to serve this market who will be making their debut at Lexington Pavilion."
The retail line-up includes three junior anchors as well as several
smaller retailers that will be announced in the coming months. A financial
institution along with two dine-in restaurants will round out Lexington
Pavilion.
A blend of upscale architecture and extensive landscaping will contribute
to the pedestrian-friendly feel of the center. These elements, along with the
unique retailer mix, will set Lexington Pavilion apart. Darnall added, "We
specifically designed this project to be a destination point for residents,
and had fun doing it. The open-air facade, retail and restaurant combination
will lend itself well to that concept."
Once complete, Lexington Pavilion is expected to attract around 3,000
customers per day, generate close to $75 million in sales per year and employ
more than 700 associates.
