ORLANDO, Florida - CTIA 2002, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Speedwise
Technologies Ltd. and IXI Mobile, Inc. today announced a strategic partnership
to deliver fast mobile Internet services to the Personal Mobile Gateway (PMG),
a micro router and micro server that is the single cellular connection for a
variety of Bluetooth devices consumers carry or wear. As part of the
agreement, Speedwise, the leading vendor of wireless Internet optimization
solutions, and IXI Mobile, the developer of end-to-end mobile communications
software will cooperate to enable wireless carriers and service providers to
offer their customers fast and reliable wireless Internet services on sleek,
low-cost wireless devices.
The core element of the IXI solution is the PMG. The PMG is a pocket-sized
stand-alone device that combines cellular communications capabilities with
Bluetooth. The PMG can also be a battery-pack, or integrated into existing
cellular phones. Accompanying the PMG is IXI-Connect(TM), the micro-router and
micro-server software that runs on the PMG, and IXI's back-end remote
management software, IXI-Manage(TM), that allows wireless operators and
service providers to remotely access and manage the PMG and the devices that
are connected to it. New applications can be downloaded or upgraded over the
air using the IXI software.
Speedwise is the developer of the most widely deployed Internet
acceleration and optimization solutions with over 20 operator customers
worldwide, covering more than 100-million subscribers. Integrating Speedwise's
solutions will provide a new level of Internet connection to the PMG, enabling
new services to be offered by carriers such as wireless video and imaging,
using a small, low-cost, Bluetooth camera.
