WASHINGTON, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- A high tech character is joining
General Halftrack and the gang in the award-winning Beetle Bailey cartoon
strip, and the new Army IT officer and his famous creator, Mort Walker, are
marching over to FOSE 2002 this week for the debut.
The new character, who sports gadgets a-plenty, will be on display in the
Beetle Bailey booth 602 at FOSE 2002, the nation's largest and most
comprehensive technology exhibition for the government. FOSE 2002 opens this
week at the Washington DC Convention Center and runs from Tuesday, March 19
until Thursday, March 21, 2002 from 10 AM to 4 PM each day. On the last day
of the show, creator Mort Walker will be at booth 602 signing autographs and
greeting Beetle Bailey fans. Throughout the three-day show, over 17,000
government and military information technology professionals attend FOSE 2002
to review technology, hear from a stellar line-up of keynotes, and attend a
broad array of educational offerings.
A contest to pick the name and rank of the new character kicks off at FOSE
2002 and runs throughout the show. The winner will be chosen by Mort Walker,
and the winner's own name will go down in history by being mentioned in the
first cartoon featuring the new character. All entries placed at FOSE 2002,
the official launch site of the contest, will be entered into a drawing for a
one year lease on a new Jeep Wrangler, parked in the Beetle Bailey booth. The
drawing for the Jeep will take place at FOSE on Thursday, March 21.
FOSE 2002 attendees stopping at the Beetle Bailey booth will have an
opportunity to obtain their picture with Beetle Bailey characters for a
donation to the Fisher House, a non-profit organization providing support to
military families including affordable, temporary lodging in a "home away from
home" atmosphere for members of our armed forces, retirees, veterans, and
their loved ones during a medical crisis.
