Auspex and Eurologic Demonstrate Joint Storage Solution at FOSE Show

NAS Server Built from Auspex Engine & Eurologic I/O Subsystems

Debuts at Government Technology Exhibition in Washington, D.C.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Auspex Systems,
Inc. (Nasdaq: ASPX) and Eurologic Systems are showcasing an enterprise-class
network server combining the two companies' technologies at the FOSE 2002
government technology exhibition in Washington, D.C., this week. The
demonstration system combines Auspex's high-performance Network Attached
Storage (NAS) engine with Eurologic's SANbloc network storage subsystem,
producing a competitively priced server with the same industry-leading
performance as the Auspex NS3000 family of storage appliances.
"Auspex has traditionally been a provider of high-end NAS systems, and we
are exploring ways to extend our reach to the mid-tier market," said Robert
Iacono, Vice President of Marketing for Auspex Systems. "By working with
Eurologic, we believe we will be able to hit the right price point while
delivering enterprise-class performance that is not available in competitive
products, thereby opening important new opportunities for us in the mid-tier
space."
"This demonstration system at FOSE 2002 is the first step in creating a
new paradigm of selling a NAS server in components," said Michael J. Stolz,
Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Eurologic. "Eurologic is excited
about this promising strategy that addresses the demands of this evolving
marketplace with an innovative solution."
The modular approach of the Auspex/Eurologic demonstration is an outgrowth
of the unbundled design of Auspex's NS3000 network servers, which physically
separates the storage subsystem from the intelligent NAS engine. That same
architecture permitted development of the recently announced Auspex NSc3000
Network Storage Controller, a multivendor SAN-to-NAS gateway providing
seamless file services in SAN environments without the purchase of attached
disk subsystems. Both that product and the Auspex/Eurologic system reflect an
Auspex initiative to lessen the company's focus on storage and instead
emphasize its expertise in data management.
