Bio-logic Systems Wins Largest Order in its History

Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Awards Infant Hearing Screening
                            Tender of $3.3 Million

    MUNDELEIN, Ill., March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio-logic Systems Corp.
(Nasdaq: BLSC) today reported receiving a tender award from the Ontario
Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The company was awarded $3.3 million
of the initial $3.4 million tender.
Under the tender, Bio-logic will supply hearing screening and diagnostic
equipment for the purpose of testing infant hearing throughout Ontario. The
$3.3 million order will be shipped in March 2001 and additional orders are
anticipated under the agreement that runs through March 2002. The company
also expects to receive approximately $200,000 of orders per annum for related
disposables beginning in April 2001.
In May 2000, the Ontario government announced a program to identify babies
born deaf or hard of hearing, and to provide them with the support and
services required to promote healthy communication development. In launching
the new program in December 2000 the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
stated that "children born with permanent hearing loss or who acquire
permanent hearing loss during the early years of life are at risk for delay in
language development if the loss is not identified early." The equipment will
be purchased through 12 agencies located in cities across the province from
Ottawa in the east to Kenora in the west.
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care designed a two-stage screening
method that is considered to be the most cost-effective means of implementing
a Universal Newborn Screening Program. Initial screening, expected to
encompass 140,000 babies annually, will use Bio-logic's AuDX(R) product. The
second stage, which will screen the 30,000 babies the Ministry of Health and
Long-Term Care estimates will fail the initial screening, will use the
company's ABaer(TM) system (automated auditory brainstem evoked response),
which will be followed by the use of Bio-logic's Navigator(R) Pro for the
diagnostic assessment of an estimated 7,000 babies the Ministry of Health and
Long-Term Care expects to fail both screenings.
Gabriel Raviv, CEO, stated, "Our vision of providing a comprehensive
product solution for newborn hearing screening and diagnosis continues to be
validated by important regions around the world. We are extremely pleased
that the AuDX(R) hand-held hearing screener, the recently introduced ABaer(TM)
system for automated auditory brain stem response (ABR), and the Navigator(R)
Pro diagnostic ABR were chosen to meet the comprehensive needs of a major
universal newborn hearing screening program such as the one being implemented
throughout Ontario."
Bio-logic Systems Corp., headquartered in Mundelein, IL, designs,
develops, assembles and markets computer-based electrodiagnostic systems for
use by hospitals, clinics, universities and physicians. The systems conduct
tests that are typically used by medical practitioners to aid in the diagnosis
of certain neurological disorders, brain disorders and tumors, and sensory
disorders, including hearing screening and diagnostic tests.
