Polycom Enhances ViewStation and ViaVideo Video Communications Systems, Demonstrates at FOSE Trade Show

   Polycom Introduces Enhanced Functionality for ViewStation and ViaVideo;
Previews Mixed IP and ISDN Call Capabilities for ViewStation FX and VS4000 At
                            Government Trade Show

    MILPITAS, Calif., March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Polycom(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM), a worldwide leader in the convergence of
interactive voice, video and data communications, today announced enhanced
functionality for its appliance-based ViewStation(R) and ViaVideo(TM) video
communications systems. The enhancements are geared toward making interactive
video communications simple for end users and easy for network administrators
to deploy and manage. Polycom will demonstrate the new enhancements at the
FOSE government trade show, March 19-21 in Washington D.C. at the Convention
Center - Booth #1450.
Polycom will also preview mixed IP and ISDN call capabilities on the
ViewStation FX and VS4000(TM) systems at the FOSE trade show. The
demonstration will show how the internal multipoint control unit (MCU) will
combine mixed-network calls within the same multipoint session, a standard
feature enabled by Polycom's MGC-100(TM) and MGC-50 multipoint conferencing
systems, but new to the internal MCU on the ViewStation FX and VS4000
endpoints.
"We are continuing to drive video communications innovation across our
product lines, while making the systems as easy to use as a telephone through
tighter integration of the elements of our end-to-end solution," said Craig
Malloy, senior vice president and general manager of video communications at
Polycom. "We are listening to our customers' needs and continuing to offer
solutions that deliver the best quality, functionality and value in the
industry."

ViewStation furthers Polycom's commitment to easy and reliable video
communications
Polycom is expanding the functionality of its industry-leading ViewStation
group videoconferencing systems to support the Polycom PathNavigator(TM)
OneDial(TM) feature, making dialing video calls as simple as placing a
telephone call. Polycom OneDial greatly simplifies the process of placing a
video call by making the complex prefix and country codes transparent to the
user. Calls are easily made directly from the video endpoint dial menu or
directory, eliminating the need for users to learn another web-based
application to dial their calls or attach a PC to a ViewStation group video
communications system.
ViewStation now also features an enhanced web-based remote system
management user interface and includes Visual Concert(TM) Basic, which extends
the utility of existing ViewStation videoconferencing systems, enabling users
to share live content from their PC during a video call. In addition,
ViewStation now offers Caller ID on inbound calls, last number redial and
added administrative controls.

    ViaVideo offers telephone-like functionality
New ViaVideo functionality includes support for the Polycom OneDial
feature, Conference-On-Demand, which enables users to quickly and easily
conduct multipoint video calls from their ViaVideo. The ViaVideo user
interface now provides a "conference" button to allow users to conference with
multiple participants in a ViaVideo call on an on-demand basis. ViaVideo also
now features call forwarding and call transfer functionality that works like a
telephone and it supports Windows XP, enabling users of virtually any Windows
operating system to have business-quality video communications. Additional
enhancements include easier PC color and display adjustments, added controls
for Video Mail and MSN Messenger Buddy List call launch capability.

ViewStation FX and VS4000 Support for IP and ISDN mixed calls
Polycom will preview mixed IP/ISDN call capability during the FOSE trade
show. This capability enables ViewStation FX and VS4000 embedded multipoint
system users to place IP and ISDN calls simultaneously during a multipoint
call. This feature, including the ability for remote participants to dial-in
to a multipoint call, will be available on the ViewStation FX and
VS4000 platforms later in 2002.

    Availability
Polycom's enhanced ViewStation and ViaVideo systems are now available
worldwide through Polycom's web site at http://www.polycom.com. Mixed call and
dial-in support on the ViewStation FX and VS4000 platforms will be available
later in 2002.
