Raytheon Awarded $15.5 Million Air Force Contract to Repair Air Traffic Control Radar System Components

CHULA VISTA, Calif., March 20, 2006 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Technical
Services Company LLC (RTSC), a subsidiary of Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN), has
been awarded a U.S. Air Force (Air Force Logistics Center, Tinker Air Force
Base, Okla.) contract to repair air traffic control radar system components
worldwide. The contract is valued at $15.5 million for the base-year and four
option years.
RTSC will provide repair services, technical assistance and data in
support of components applicable to the AN/TPN-19 and the AN/GPN-22 landing
control centers for a one-year period. Additional options can be exercised to
extend repair and field support services during the next four years. Work will
be performed in Chula Vista, Calif., and at Air Force installations worldwide.
The AN/TPN-19 and AN/GPN-22 radar systems were designed and built by
Raytheon. The Air Force has relied on the forward-deployed, mobile AN/TPN-19
radar system to support on-going operations in Iraq.
"We are pleased to continue providing Mission Support to the U.S. Air
Force and the air traffic control radar systems," said Bob Davis, vice
president and general manager of one of RTSC's business units. "This award is
an opportunity to provide total life-cycle support and allows us to extend the
operational lifespan of the Raytheon radar systems."

defense, federal and commercial customers worldwide. It specializes in Mission
Support, counter-proliferation and counter-terrorism, base and range
operations and customized engineering services. Mission Support -- Raytheon's
integrated approach to providing total life-cycle support, predicting customer
needs, sensing problems and proactively applying solutions-enables Raytheon to
maintain readiness and deliver operational capability on demand, enhancing
customer mission success.
Raytheon Company, with 2005 sales of $21.9 billion, is an industry leader
in defense and government electronics, space, information technology,
technical services, and business and special mission aircraft. With
headquarters in Waltham, Mass., Raytheon employs 80,000 people worldwide.

    Note to Editors:
The award of this contract represents a continuation of Raytheon Technical
Services Company LLC (RTSC) repair services and field support services on the
AN/TPN-19 and AN/GPN-22 radar systems. RTSC has been supporting the radar
components for more than 15 years.
    Raytheon's AN/TPN-19 and Raytheon's AN/GPN-22 radar, deployed more than 20
years ago, provide air traffic control personnel accurate navigational
information to guide aircraft on approach to a safe landing, during both clear
and instrument flight rule weather conditions. The radar set is composed of
the radar and associated communications and electronics equipment and external
antenna system. The systems detect and track aircraft approaching a runway for
landing. The AN/TPN-19 was deployed as a mobile radar system for operations in
Iraq. The AN/GPN-22 has been in service beyond its originally planned life
cycle and continues to perform the required mission.
