Richard Moreira Appointed to Drive Splunk Initiatives for the Federal
Government Agencies
SAN FRANCISCO, March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Splunk (http://www.splunk.com),
creators of the IT search engine for logs and IT data, today announced it
has launched a new practice dedicated to working with government agencies.
The focus will be spearheaded by Richard Moreira, Federal Accounts
Representative, and will focus on providing IT search solutions to help
government agencies improve the availability, security and compliance of
their IT infrastructures. Splunk will be exhibiting at FOSE in booth 1449.
In addition to being a former Sergeant for the United States Marine
Corps, Richard Moreira brings hands on engineering and IT experience to
Splunk. Most recently he was a Communication Systems Field Service Engineer
in Iraq under contract with Northrop Grumman. Working with Tony Ayaz,
Director of East Coast and Federal Sales for Splunk, Richard will be
responsible for business development initiatives within the federal
government, its agencies, resellers, and systems integrators.
"IT search provides the ability to dive deep into the complex IT
environments running our government agencies and find problems, investigate
security incidents and automate compliance reporting," said Michael Baum,
CEO of Splunk. "Splunk is already in use at a number of government agencies
and major government contractors including the Department of Defense,
Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, Department of
Transportation, and NASA. There is a tremendous opportunity in this market
for Splunk and we're honored to have someone of Richard's caliber join our
team."
"The Government sector is in need of a solution to manage the volume
and velocity of IT data in their data centers," said Richard Moreira,
Federal Accounts Representative. "Just as in the commercial market, our
government's organizations rely on their IT infrastructure to be available
24/7/365 and Splunk can help them do that. I look forward to expanding
Splunk's market reach in federal and local governments."
Richard served for 10 years as a Sergeant in the United States Marine
Corps and received his Bachelors of Arts in Organizational Communications
and Marketing from San Francisco State University.
