NVIDIA and Discreet Partner to Power Next-Generation Game Development at GDC

    Content Creators Experience NVIDIA's Develop and Deploy Strategy With
Discreet's 3ds max Software in 'gmax-ready room' at Game Developers Conference

/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NVIDIA(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) today announced
that its new high-performance Quadro(TM) 4 professional graphics solutions are
featured exclusively in Discreet's "gmax-ready room"(room #C-2) and booth
(#1426) at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), being held this week in
San Jose, CA.  A division of Autodesk, Inc., Discreet's gmax-ready room allows
show attendees to experience gmax-ready game titles including Microsoft's
Dungeon Siege and EA Games' Command and Conquer: RENEGADE by Westwood Studios
which were developed using NVIDIA's graphics solutions and Discreet's 3ds max
animation software tools.  In the gmax-ready room, developers and game
enthusiasts will also get hands-on time with NVIDIA's new Quadro4 graphics
performing with the latest arsenal of Discreet's professional tools for game
development and production.  In its booth (#616), NVIDIA will also feature
Discreet's  3ds max animation software.

    Located in the Special Session Room of the San Jose Convention Center and
by invitation only, the Discreet gmax-ready room will show 3ds max, character
studio, reactor and gmax-enabled games including Microsoft's Dungeon Siege,
Flight Simulator 2000 Professional Edition and Train Simulator along with EA
Games' Command and Conquer: RENEGADE by Westwood Studios, and Auran TRAIN.
Guests of the gmax-ready room can participate in a drawing to win special
prizes, including six NVIDIA Quadro4 750 XGL graphics boards.  Special
presentations from developers of several different game titles will explain
how their games were created.  There will also be open play and a chance to
create and customize game content using gmax, Discreet's consumer game design
and content editing software.  In the gmax-ready room, systems with NVIDIA's
Quadro4 graphics will be used to demonstrate Discreet's 3ds max and gmax
products.
    The NVIDIA Quadro4 XGL series of professional Graphics Processing Units
(GPUs) support advanced shader operations and is designed to accelerate
OpenGL(R) and DirectX(R) professional applications by implementing workstation
specific functionality, such as hardware overlay planes, hardware-accelerated
antialiased points and lines, advanced memory management, and other features
critical to improving performance in professional applications.
    All Quadro4 products feature nView(TM), NVIDIA's Multi-display technology
that supports arrangements of analog monitors and digital flat panel displays
that can be combined to drastically increase the user's working desktop.
NVIDIA's Quadro4 products also utilize the NVIDIA Unified Driver
Architecture(TM)(UDA), a set of backward and forward, top to bottom compatible
graphics drivers that optimize application performance, stability, and

application drivers such as the ELSA(R) MAXtreme(TM) driver for 3ds max that
