Esteemed Security Expert and Presidential Medal of Freedom Winner to Provide
Vital Insight on Terrorist and Security Threats
PASADENA, Calif., March 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Former United States
Director of Central Intelligence, George Tenet, has joined the Board of
Directors of Guidance Software, the world leader in computer investigations.
In this capacity, Tenet will provide strategic counsel and apply his extensive
experience in addressing the nation's most daunting security threats and
challenges as the company expands its footprint in the government marketplace.
Tenet served two Presidents of different political parties. He was
appointed by President Clinton in 1997 and served well into President George
W. Bush's first term, until July of 2004, making him the second longest
serving Director in CIA history. On December 14, 2004, George W. Bush awarded
Tenet the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
"While the United States has made great strides in securing our physical
infrastructure from the threat of terrorism, our vital public and private
networks remain vulnerable," said John Colbert, CEO of Guidance Software,
"George Tenet's years of experience fighting terrorism and extensive knowledge
of potential and existing threats will expand Guidance's unparalleled
expertise in computer forensics and network investigations."
As the industry leader in enterprise investigations and computer
forensics, Guidance Software continues to see increased demand for its suite
of products and services in the corporate, military, intelligence and
government sectors. The company intends to draw upon Tenet's expertise on
ways to expand its professional service offerings and sales of the network
investigations software, EnCase(R) Enterprise.
"I continue to believe that our nation's networks represent a potential
Achilles' heel for our financial stability and physical security if they are
not properly maintained and protected," said George Tenet. "My seven years as
Director of the CIA strengthened my conviction that corporate and government
entities must better equip themselves to prepare and respond to internal and
external threats. Guidance Software leads the market in providing this
critical capability and I look forward to working with them to make our
networks safer."
