Congressman Tom Davis, John Chambers, CEO, Cisco Systems, Inc. Receive Federal Chief Information Officers' Azimuth Award at FOSE

WASHINGTON, March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- As ancient mariners know, an azimuth
is a measure of direction or bearing from a known point along the horizon and
is used to gauge course and position in the sea. Today at FOSE 2004, the
Chief Information Officers awarded their most prestigious honor, The Azimuth
Award, to Congressman Tom Davis (R-VA) and John Chambers, President and CEO,
Cisco Systems, Inc. for their vision in supporting the U.S. government
information technology community. The Azimuth Awards are presented during
FOSE 2004, the nation's largest information technology conference and
exhibition that attracts 20,000 public-sector IT professionals and 500
exhibiting companies. FOSE 2004 runs from Tuesday-Thursday, March 23-25 at
the Washington DC Convention Center; attendance is free for government
professionals.
"These two extraordinary individuals have been key supporters of the
federal information technology community. Tom Davis, long a friend and
advocate for the Federal IT workforce, has lead Congress in seeing the
opportunities that information technology can bring to our fellow citizens.
John Chambers has lent his personal and professional support to assisting us
in strengthening our national infrastructure and bringing his company's
enormously talented employees to government teams," said Karen Evans, Director
of E-Government and Information Technology, Office of Management and Budget
and Chair, CIO Council.
"We at PostNewsweek Tech Media applaud the CIO Council's Azimuth Award
recipients. FOSE continues to be the government's flagship conference and
exposition. As 20,000 of the government's best and brightest technology
professionals visit FOSE each year, they gain inspiration by saluting
individuals like Chambers and Davis," concluded Bill Howell, Executive Vice
President, PostNewsweek Tech Media and General Manager, FOSE 2004.
