GCN Announces Best New Technology Awards; Qovia Inc. Takes Top Honors as Best of Show at FOSE 2004

    WASHINGTON, March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 100 industry contenders
competed for the coveted Government Computer News (GCN) Best New Technology
Awards at FOSE 2004, the government's largest gathering of information
technology professionals.  Qovia Inc. took the Best of Show prize for its
Internet telephony software that reduces operating cost, improves voice
quality, and enhances efficiency.  Awards were presented on March 23, the
opening day of FOSE 2004.  Winners were chosen by a team of GCN and Washington
Technology editors.
    FOSE 2004, featuring more than 500 exhibitors who are demonstrating their
technology solutions to 20,000 federal high tech buyers, runs from March 23
through March 25 at the Washington DC Convention Center.  Entry to the
exhibits is free for government professionals.
    Thomas R. Temin, senior vice president and editor-in-chief for
PostNewsweek Tech Media, summed up the Best New Technology at FOSE contest
this way, "Our editors looked for innovative products that apply to the

    This year, GCN also awarded two products Special Judges Awards.

    Handheld Client:  Research in Motion Ltd. for Blackberry 7510 Wireless
     Handheld;
    Enterprise Systems Software:  Qovia Inc.;
    Enterprise Application Software:  Macromedia, Inc. for Macromedia Studio
     MX2004;
    Display Devices:  InFocus Corporation for the LP640, and
    Desktop Client:  Gateway for the Gateway Profile 5.

    FOSE 2004 is taking place at the new Washington DC Convention Center from
Tuesday to Thursday, March 23-25, 2004.  The trade show and education program
