Breakthrough Software, Which Enables Less Costly, Plain Digital Trunks
To Mimic PRI Lines, Will Boost Capacity of Electric Lightwave's Remote Dial-Up
Access Product by 500 Percent
SAN JOSE, Calif., Voice Over Net Conference, March 27 /PRNewswire/
-- ipVerse Inc., an innovative supplier of next generation network software
products, today announced that Electric Lightwave Inc. (Nasdaq: ELIX), a
leading integrated communications provider, will be the first to deploy its
ControlSwitch product under a contract valued up to $6.6 million.
ControlSwitch is a breakthrough software product that enables telecom
companies new flexibility and lower capital costs to deliver services such as
Primary Rate Interface and remote dial-up Internet access.
In addition, ControlSwitch will enable telecom companies to mix-and-match
hardware products from various vendors interchangeably. This provides
ControlSwitch customers new flexibility in choosing whichever supplier can
meet their needs for delivery, quality and function.
"ipVerse customized ControlSwitch to meet our specific architecture needs.
There's nothing like it available in the marketplace today," said Kevin Moss,
vice president of packet and data products for Electric Lightwave.
Electric Lightwave will deploy ControlSwitch throughout its nationwide
digital, high-speed fiber optic network. Initially, ControlSwitch will support
Electric Lightwave's Remote Systems Virtual Portal, a popular remote access
dial-up product that enables telecommuting and Internet access. ControlSwitch
will be used to mimic Primary Rate Interface lines using lower cost, standard
digital T-1 trunks.
"Revenue from RSVP sales grew 330 percent over the past year and we
anticipate even greater growth this year. ControlSwitch will enable us to
increase RSVP capacity by an additional 500 percent," said Matt Siemens,
director of Nexgen product marketing for Electric Lightwave.
"Winning Electric Lightwave's business is a testament to the unmatched
performance and flexibility of our ControlSwitch solution," said Art Klein,
president and chief executive officer of ipVerse Inc. "We're thrilled to help
a leading integrated communications provider migrate its network to the next
generation, integrated voice and data communications."
About the ControlSwitch
Built around a distributed high-availability architecture, the ipVerse
ControlSwitch offers unmatched performance with no built-in-limits. This
flexibility enables ipVerse to support installations with as few as a thousand
users to global systems serving millions. The simplified management interface
and operational efficiency enable existing operations personnel to centrally
control distributed global networks. The ControlSwitch's multi-protocol
platform supports SS7, MGCP, H.323, IPDC, SIP and ISDN-PRI signaling systems,
allowing transparent traffic exchange within or between service provider
networks. In conjunction with a trunking or access gateway, the ControlSwitch
delivers lucrative primary rate interface (PRI) connections for customers or
customer PBX and RAS systems. With RAS systems, the ACX1000 also enables
wholesale modem access service for Internet Service Providers.
The ipVerse ControlSwitch enables the fast, economical deployment of new
integrated communications services with its simple Web-based tools, XML
scripts and open architecture. Service providers and third-party developers
are given the power to create, deploy and customize voice-data services with
the ControlSwitch, helping them attract and retain customers. In turn, users
gain the control to customize or point and click their own services, and take
advantage of new features that combine data and voice.
