Under terms of the agreement, RMI.NET will provide data and voice
connectivity, Internet access and communications services throughout the
school district and related facilities. The school district secured a
majority portion of the funding for the upgrade through the federal E-rate
program, which subsidizes technology development for schools across the
nation.
"RMI.NET's experience in providing and managing technological advances for
other school districts helped us in making the decision to select them for
this very important project," said John Stindt, Highland Park School District
assistant superintendent. "We look forward to a long and successful
relationship, which ultimately will be of great benefit to our students."
"It is extremely rewarding for RMI.NET to be involved in programs that
benefit school districts across the nation and bring value to our company,"
said Douglas H. Hanson, chairman and chief executive officer for RMI.NET.
"This agreement is one of many we expect to secure, and it is our intent to
look for opportunities to further enrich school districts across the nation
with the latest technology advances."
Hanson noted that RMI.NET has secured similar agreements in California and
Michigan.
E-rate is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company
(USAC), a private, not-for-profit organization. USAC is responsible for
providing every state and territory in the nation with access to affordable
telecommunications services through federal funds. All of the country's
communities -- including public and private schools, public libraries, rural
health care providers, low-income neighborhoods and remote communities -- are
eligible to seek discounts for communications services.
