WEST KINGSTON, RI UNITED STATES
    WEST KINGSTON, R.I., March 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Power
Conversion (Nasdaq: APCC) (APC), a leading global provider of end-to-end
infrastructure availability solutions, today announced that its innovative,
new InfraStruXure(R) InRow RC data center cooling unit recently was named a
"Best of FOSE" award winner by the editors of Government Computer News (GCN)
magazine and its sister publication Washington Technology. The "Best of FOSE"
award recognizes new and groundbreaking products and solutions in the
government IT industry.

Judges from GCN and Washington Technology examined roughly 200 nominated
products and named 13 GCN "Best of FOSE" winners and two grand-prize "Best of
Show" winners at this year's FOSE 2006 event in Washington, D.C. FOSE
represents the government's largest annual gathering of information technology
professionals.
"We are honored that Government Computer News chose to recognize APC's
success in data center product innovation," said Bill Bockoven, APC's director
of government and education sales. "In many instances, the amount of heat
generated per rack exceeds what traditional data center cooling solutions can
handle effectively. This award gives us the opportunity to increase APC's
visibility in the government market."
"APC stood out for their innovation and applicability to government
requirements," said Tom Temin, executive vice president, and editor-in chief
of PostNewsweek Tech Media, the owners of Government Computer News, Washington
Technology, Government Leader, Defense Systems and FOSE. "Innovation in
technology is more important than ever considering how many IT products have
become almost indistinguishable based solely on price and specifications."
APC's InfraStruXure InRow RC is a modular cooling solution that is
installed next to the IT equipment rack in applications ranging from small
computer rooms to large data centers. Deployed to both sides of a rack
enclosure, the unit can predictably deliver up to 60kW of cooling per rack of
IT equipment or up to 30kW per rack with full redundancy. The operation of
the InRow RC maximizes performance by capturing the heat at the source. This
reduces the overall total cost of ownership by enabling rightsizing and
improved operational efficiency. This chilled water unit is half the width of
a standard IT rack (300mm) and offers hot swappable, variable speed fans to
improve availability and save energy. The InRow RC also offers network
manageability through integration with APC's InfraStruXure Manager.
