New Gateway PC Features Big Performance in a Small Package

Catholic Health System to use Gateway desktop PCs for patient registration
and monitoring, record keeping and administration

IRVINE, Calif., March 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gateway, Inc. today
announced a new Small Form Factor (SFF) desktop PC that brings enhanced
performance, manageability and flexibility to Gateway's education,
government and business customers. The Gateway(R) E-2610 desktop is
optimized for Microsoft Windows Vista(TM) and features the Intel(R) 945
chipset, a choice of Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo dual-core processors, three
BTX case options and a choice of hard drives at an affordable price.
The Gateway E-2610 can be configured for entry-level to high-end
mainstream performance, making it ideal for mass deployment into areas
where performance and reliability are crucial. The unrivaled processor
performance and energy efficiency of the Intel Core 2 Duo processors
combined with Gateway's innovative BTX chassis design, allow this PC to
easily handle both power-hungry graphics and data-intensive software
applications.
Gateway's innovative, three-bay BTX chassis design more efficiently
cools internal components, delivering exceptional reliability and longer
system life. The tool-free design also makes it simple to access components
without removing the front bezel or replacing optical drive retention
screws, enabling IT organizations to quickly and easily support and service
this desktop.
"The Gateway E-2610 is a small form factor desktop that provides
high-end performance and system flexibility at a great value," said Steve
Bulling, senior group desktop product manager for Gateway. "Our customers
appreciate that this system can be tailored to fit any business environment
through the choices we offer in processors, drives, and the BTX chassis."
Buffalo, New York-based Catholic Health System in is one of the state's
largest healthcare providers with 8,200 associates and 1,200 physicians.
They utilize more than 600 Gateway desktops throughout their organization,
from hospitals, primary care centers and diagnostic and treatment centers
to surgery centers, long-term care facilities, adult homes and home care
agencies. Each entity uses the desktops for different business functions,
from patient registration and monitoring to record keeping and
administration in the organization's multiple offices. Gateway's desktop
PCs provide organizations like Catholic Health System with the performance
and flexibility necessary to master day-to-day business applications or
data-intensive software programs.
"Gateway was able to understand our varied computing needs and identify
an affordable, reliable solution that best fits our organization," said
David Rhoads, technical operations manager at Catholic Health System.
"Since we have a variety of entities within our healthcare system, we
especially appreciate the expandability options and easy serviceability of
the Gateway systems."
The Gateway E-2610 was designed to deliver the flexibility and
reliability that is necessary to meet an organization's specific demands.
In addition to processor and hard drive options, the Gateway E-2610 offers
the Intel(R) 945G chipset, Intel graphics, DDR2 667MHz SDRAM memory and a
choice of a six-bay mini-tower, three-bay desktop, or a three-bay small
form factor (SFF) BTX chassis architecture.
Manageability is improved with the combination of Gateway Systems
Manager software and integrated Broadcom 10/100/1000 Ethernet with Alert
Standard Format (ASF) 2.0 support. ASF enables a PC to alert the management
console to any problems, so issues can be resolved remotely using an
industry standard management console.
The Gateway E-2610 protects customer's data with GatewayShield(TM)
Internet, hardware and data protection featuring Trusted Platform Module
(TPM) 1.2 for data encryption and network authorization. TPM provides
enhanced protection against data theft by encrypting files, authenticating
network access and passwords, and safeguarding email communications and
file transfers. Ideal for IT-managed environments, PCs with TPM better
protect critical applications and capabilities, such as email, web access
and local protection of data.
