MILLIS, Mass., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Kanguru Solutions today announced
that the Kanguru Wizard, a USB security key, has been awarded "Best New
Technology" in the security category at FOSE 2004.
The winners were announced on March 23 at FOSE, the largest annual
tradeshow that showcases information technology for the government
marketplace. The winners were chosen based on the products' usability, value
and innovation as applicable to the government marketplace.
"The Kanguru Wizard was designed to offer maximum data protection at an
affordable price. It is a credit to Kanguru Solutions that the KanguruWizard
has been recognized as a leader in security solutions for government users. We
are delighted and honored to receive this award," said Nate Cote, vice
president of product management for Kanguru Solutions.
Equipped with Blowfish level encryption (1024 bit), the Kanguru Wizard
allows an individual to create up to "8" hidden drives. Each hidden drive can
support up to 2GB of data, allowing an individual to secure as much as 16GB of
information that is only accessible when the Kanguru Wizard is plugged into
their computer.
Each device comes equipped with its own unique identifier and offers an
emergency password in the event The Wizard is lost. Software programs can be
installed onto this device and then their associated icons will disappear when
The Wizard is removed.
"The basic idea is 'you can't access what you can't see,' Because the data
is invisible and inaccessible when the Wizard is unplugged, there is no
temptation for prying eyes to look for secret data," said Cote. "Government
agencies can use it to cordon off classified documents for limited access.
Doctors can protect their patient information. Businesses can use this for
protecting credit card information. The list goes on."
Selling for $49.95, The Wizard works with Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP and SE.
It will also work under various file systems such as FAT 16/ FAT 32/ NTFS.
