"Sallie Mae is proud to develop programs and policies that foster an
environment where all employees can develop to their fullest potential,"
said Joni Reich, senior vice president, Sallie Mae. "We are honored to be
acknowledged again by NAFE as one of the leading corporations dedicated to
providing opportunities for women, and we will continue to create a
workplace where all employees can realize their career aspirations."
The annual survey measures women's representation among top-paid and
top- tier positions at America's largest companies. Sallie Mae was awarded
high scores for its representation of women in senior management and for
programs that encourage advancement and promote women from within the
company.
NAFE's evaluation and selection process involved a look beyond
corporate programs and policies, purportedly dedicated to advancing women,
to analyze their results -- examining the number of women in the company
overall, in senior management, and on its board of directors. NAFE also
scrutinized how well represented women were among each company's top
earners, and measured every aspect of women's advancement, including
support programs, succession planning and work-life balance programs.
