CLOSURE Medical Announces Resignation of Chief Financial Officer

    RALEIGH, N.C., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- CLOSURE Medical Corporation
(Nasdaq: CLSR), a medical tissue cohesive products company, today announced
that J. Blount Swain has resigned as the company's Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Swain had been with Closure since September 1992.
    Robert V. Toni, President and CEO said, "Blount has made tremendous
contributions to Closure in the last eight years.  He has the opportunity to
join a pre-IPO software company in a senior level position and I wish him the
best in his new venture."

    The Company expects to fill the Chief Financial Officer position in the
near future.  Until that time Benny Ward, the Company's controller who joined
the company in 1996 prior to the initial public offering, will serve as
Interim CFO and assume all financial management responsibilities.  Mr. Swain
will be assisting with the transition during the month of April 2000.
