PITTSBURGH, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- A `workers excuse' card for
motorists' use has been added to Pittsburgh's official source of construction
and traffic information -- epenndot.com, creating the ultimate in customer
service.
"We felt obligated to create a valid excuse card for motorists to use
during the closing of the Fort Pitt Bridge and Tunnel," said Dick Skrinjar,
PENNDOT spokesperson. "During our public meetings in the past weeks, I kept
being asked `how will I get out of trouble with my boss if I am late to work
during the closing of the bridge and tunnel.' We now have a way for those
affected by the closure and slackers in general."
The PENNDOT Excuse Card, available for printing at epenndot.com, provides
an interactive way for motorists to include the date, employees' and managers'
names and a drop-down menu of possible reasons for being late.
The Fort Pitt Bridge and Tunnel will close April 6, 2002. Leading up to
that date, as alternate routes are being prepared, motorists are encouraged to
follow the posted detour routes and drive safely through construction zones.
