is demonstrating its commitment to delivering the most fuel efficient,
versatile and durable diesel engines in the commercial vehicle market through
enhancements to its Series 60(R) engine, additional ratings for its MBE 900
engine and the introduction of Rear Engine Power Take Off (REPTO) for the MBE
4000 engine. Detroit Diesel will highlight these and other product offerings
and solutions at the 2005 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky,
(booth #2675) at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center.

Enhanced Series 60 14-liter Engine
The Series 60 continues to be one of the most favored diesel engines in
the commercial truck industry. One of the reasons for the popularity of this
engine is its significant fuel economy savings over other engines in the same
class. Use of rigorous research, testing and analysis, and proprietary new
tools have enabled DDC to make modifications to the 14-liter engine that
further increase fuel economy by up to 1.9 percent in some applications.
MBE 900 Offers More Ratings
The MBE 900 engine, which was launched in the North American market in
1999, now offers un-restricted ratings for the 7.2-liter version covering 250
through 330 horsepower. Previously, the 300 and 330 horsepower ratings were
limited to fire and emergency applications.
MBE 4000 with REPTO Launches
Introduced into the North American market in late 2001, the MBE 4000 has
shown strong acceptance across a wide variety of applications within the on-
highway and vocational markets and is set to gain even more acceptance with
the introduction of Rear Engine Power Take Off (REPTO).
EPA '07 Engine Readiness
In 2007, EPA emission standards require that commercial heavy-duty diesel
engines comply with a Nitrous Oxide (NOx) and particulate matter level that is
nearly 55 percent lower than today's standard for NOx emissions, and 90
percent lower than today's standard for particulate matter. Detroit Diesel is
on track to meet these standards with its Series 60, MBE 900 and MBE 4000
engines.
