PITTSBURGH, March 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United States Steel
Corporation (NYSE: X) today announced that Deborah A. Grabe has been named
general manager-business planning. Grabe reports to John C. Price, who was
recently appointed vice president-supply chain.
Grabe, 44, is responsible for planning and scheduling production at all
of U. S. Steel's North American steelmaking and finishing facilities.
Grabe's career at U. S. Steel began in 1988 as a management associate in
the company's purchasing department at its Pittsburgh headquarters. After
advancing through increasingly responsible roles in purchasing, finishing
operations at Mon Valley Works near Pittsburgh, raw materials planning,
procurement, distribution and sales, and tubular products, Grabe was named
manager-raw materials in 2004. In 2006, she advanced to her most recent
position, general manager-procurement at U. S. Steel Kosice, where she
oversaw all purchasing activities for the company's steelmaking operation
in the Slovak Republic.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Grabe earned bachelor's degrees in
accounting and finance from Robert Morris University in 1985. She completed
her master's degree in business administration at Duquesne University in
1996. Debby and her husband, Thomas Barefoot, Jr., along with their two
children, will return to the Pittsburgh area from Slovakia.
