The Bond Market Association Sets Annual Meeting Lineup at Key Juncture; Speakers Include Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill, SEC's Harvey Pitt And Former Fed Chair Paul Volcker

    NEW YORK, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bond Market Association today
released the preliminary schedule of its 2002 Annual Meeting which comes at an
especially important juncture given recent trends in interest rates and the
fixed-income markets, in particular the securitization market.  This year's
meeting once again brings together many of the most important participants in
the global bond markets and features a strong list of influential speakers.

    U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul H. O'Neill and Securities and Exchange
Commission Chairman Harvey L. Pitt head the list of speakers who will address
the meeting which will be held in New York City at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel
April 25th and 26th.  Former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul A. Volcker, who is
currently serving as chairman of Arthur Anderson's Independent Oversight
Board, is also scheduled to speak.  New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and
NBC anchorman and managing editor Tom Brokaw are also on the schedule.

    Among the panel discussions to be held during the meeting will be one
focusing on global securitization.  Panelists will take a look at a number of
key issues including accounting standards, investor reporting and
legislative/parliamentary initiatives.  A joint program of the Funding and
Government Divisions will explore changes in the Federal Reserve Systems Open
Markets Account's portfolio, including changes in its holdings of U.S.
Treasury debt and its efforts to explore broadening the range of collateral
utilized in its repo operations.  Other panels will take an in-depth look at
risk management, e-commerce, corporate bond price transparency and the
transition currently underway in the collateralized debt obligation market.
