Solutions With Gateway Hardware and PASCO Probeware

POWAY, Calif., and ROSEVILLE, Calif., April 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Gateway and PASCO Scientific today announced they are now offering integrated
science technology solutions for schools. The two companies are teaming up
their respective hardware and software products to help educational
institutions integrate computer-based science experiments into their
curriculum.

PASCO's science probeware, software and curricula are now available as
part of Gateway's educational Mobile Wireless Lab, which features a mobile
cart, up to 30 Gateway wirelessly enabled notebooks or tablet PCs, printers
and a wireless access point. Teachers are able to pass out notebooks or
tablets from the cart, which can be moved from classroom to classroom --
giving schools a cost-effective way to provide an entire classroom with
computers, while freeing up space.
The addition of PASCO's award-winning Pure Digital Probeware(TM),
software, curricula and lab bundles give science teachers an easy way to
increase student comprehension through hands-on, inquiry-based investigations
in biology, chemistry, physics, earth/environmental science and general
science. Designed for K-12 and higher-education institutions, PASCO offers
more than 40 sensors measuring everything from barometric pressure to
electrical currents. PASCO probeware and curricula are designed to help
teachers meet state and federal science standards.
"PASCO's comprehensive science labs for K-12 and higher-education
institutions add another important element to Gateway's education products
portfolio," said Scott Weinbrandt, senior vice president of Gateway
Professional. "Gateway is customer-centric in the way it approaches technology
in the classroom, offering turnkey solutions, a vision for how technology
integrates with curriculum and high-touch service -- not merely providing
point products and impersonal voicemail support."
"All of us in the education community are challenged by No Child Left
Behind to bring the best practices in learning to all students," said Dr.
Eileen Lento, director of learning technologies at PASCO. "PASCO is pleased to
be able to bring our award-winning probeware solutions to Gateway's desktop
and notebook computers. The powerful and affordable PASCO-Gateway offering
means greater teacher and student access to proven inquiry-based science."
Gateway's alliance with PASCO is part of its commitment to help educators
use technology to improve student achievement and address challenges they face
in integrating technology and curriculum. Gateway has aligned itself with a
wide variety of educational providers to provide complete solutions for
customers, including relationships with SMART Technologies and Riverdeep
software. SMART Technologies provides interactive whiteboards that integrate
with Gateway plasma displays, while Riverdeep delivers scientifically
researched math and reading products that integrate with Gateway's educational
PC product line.
Educators will be able to purchase any of the products in PASCO's
USB-based PASPORT line of probeware as a standalone solution or bundled with
Gateway's Mobile Wireless Lab, allowing them to design a solution to meet
their specific needs. For more information or procurement options on Gateway
