PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Simpson Industries, Inc.
(Nasdaq: SMPS) today announced that, effective April 1, it had acquired
Tennessee based Stahl International, Inc. (Stahl), a closely held manufacturer
of viscous dampers. Stahl manufactures crankshaft and driveline viscous
dampers with annual sales of approximately $4.2 million.
"This is a strategic acquisition and will expand our North American
customer base for heavy duty diesel engine products," said Roy E. Parrott,
Chairman, President and CEO of Simpson Industries, Inc. "This will supplement
Simpson Industries' European manufacturing capabilities for viscous dampers
and will enhance our ability to service our diesel engine customers

Simpson Industries supplies powertrain and chassis products to original
equipment manufacturers in the worldwide automotive and medium and heavy duty
diesel engine markets. Simpson's products are focused in four groups: noise,
vibration and harshness; wheel-end and suspension; modular engine assemblies
and high-precision machined components. Simpson's manufacturing units are
located in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. European and Asian
operations are located in England, France, Spain and South Korea.
