New Device Maximizes Analog Input Design Flexibility and Reduces Interface
Design Complexity
SAN JOSE, Calif., Embedded Systems Conference, April 3 /PRNewswire/ --
Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)*, a leader in semiconductor
solutions for digital consumer products, today announced the addition of a new
member of its family of analog video front-end processors. Designated
TB1311AFG, the new device is a programmable audio/video (A/V) and component
switch that accepts all standard analog audio and video signals required for
digital television, set-top boxes and other A/V products. TAEC will be
displaying the device in booth #1510 at the Embedded Systems Conference
Silicon Valley 2006 here this week.
"The TB1311AFG integrates the full spectrum and quantity of analog video
and audio inputs required for most high-definition televisions and set-top
boxes into a single chip," said David Cruikshank, business development manager
for digital consumer products in the ASSP Business Unit at TAEC. "Previously,
Toshiba offered A/V switches and component switches as separate products. The
TB1311AFG's programmable A/V switching block, real-time format detector and
automatic sync processor reduce board real estate, engineering time and
product cost to realize a high-performance analog interface design." He noted
that this is the third new product in Toshiba's analog video front-end
processor family, joining the TB1305FG and TB1308FG devices introduced last
year. He added that the new IC complements Toshiba's other digital consumer
semiconductor solutions, including comb filter front-end processors, HDTV
decoders, single-chip LCD TV ICs, surround-sound DSPs, and audio amplifiers.
Among the device's main features are the programmable audio (L/R) block
that can accept up to 10 inputs and 3 outputs and the programmable video block
that can accept a full variety of composite, S-video, component, RGB and SCART
signals and output up to 2 video signals plus a monitor. Other important
features include an automatic sync processor, a real-time format detector that
supports display of high-resolution component video, and a no signal input
detector that activates a dummy HD/VD signal output to stabilize the TV
picture output.
Highlights of the TB1311AFG include the following:
* Provides a programmable video switch that can be configured to provide
the quantity and type of video inputs needed for a variety of
end-product designs
* CVBS inputs: 12 channels maximum
* Y/C inputs: 8 channels maximum
* YPbPr or RGB inputs: 4 channels maximum
* SCART inputs: 4 channels maximum
* Video outputs: 2 channels
* Monitor (CVBS) output
* Equipped with an audio (L/R) switch with up to 10 inputs and 3 outputs
* Offers a pre-filter for the A/D converter (4.5MHz to 46MHz variable)
that reduces aliasing noise from analog to digital conversion
* Provides real-time format detection for various video inputs including
high-definition television and computer-video resolutions
* Features automatic sync detection to reduce software design time and
save engineering resources
* Provides input signal detection and dummy HD/VD output to stabilize
the video display when there is no input signal
* Supports I2C bus control
* Housed in Lead(Pb)-Free(1) QFP80 packaging
Pricing and Availability
