Delphi Technology Now Available on R.O. Writer Shop Management Products,
Improving Shop Efficiencies
TROY, Mich., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi is introducing a suite of new
Delphi service products at the 2006 One Midas Convention today that integrate
seamlessly with the R.O. Writer shop management system. R.O. Writer shop
management systems are used by over 3,000 shops for appointment scheduling,
customer follow-up, parts ordering, tracking of repair progress and technician
performance and marketing programs. Integrating these new Delphi service
products with R.O. Writer's user interface using a common wireless
infrastructure help improve shop efficiencies and the ability to sell services
on modern vehicles, while lowering the overall acquisition cost for both the
Delphi and R.O. Writer systems.

The Delphi suite of products integrated with the RO Writer user interface
using a common wireless infrastructure helps to improve a shop's efficiency
and lower overall acquisition cost for R.O. Writer equipped service
facilities.
"There are over 100 shop management programs available to the automotive
aftermarket and R.O. Writer is recognized as the market leader," said Ben
Johnson, director of integrated service solutions product management, Delphi
Product & Service Solutions. "Many of the shops using Delphi's DS800 wireless
advanced diagnostic system already have, or are in the process of acquiring,
the R.O. Writer system. They are accommodating Delphi's needs for wireless
infrastructure, so that we can make select features from our DS800 product
available to those users at a lower acquisition cost. The result for them
will be improved shop efficiencies and easier availability of Delphi
technologies to those 3,000-plus R.O. Writer equipped service facilities."
First in Delphi's new product lineup is the Delphi Management System for
R.O. Writer, which makes Delphi diagnostic and management functionality
available from the R.O. Writer user interface. An R.O. Writer Service Writer
may now launch Delphi's proprietary Service Bay Quality Control (SBQC) test
that interfaces with the vehicle's OBDII (On Board Diagnostics 2nd Generation)
connector via a unique wireless interface device. In less than 60 seconds,
and even while the service order is being finalized, a complete "OBDII Health
Check" is available for view or print from the R.O. Writer desktop. This
report quickly identifies stored diagnostic trouble codes as well as vehicle
parameters that indicate areas of concern. This test identifies issues that
may not be exhibiting a symptom yet. The benefits are increased customer
satisfaction and more efficient shop operations.
Also available from the R.O. Writer interface is Delphi's Auto IQ, which
is designed to educate the vehicle owner in terms they understand about their
complex vehicle. Auto IQ provides video clips and graphic support that help
explain the complex systems and components that make up the modern automobile
to the vehicle owner. For the shop owner the result is higher conversion rate
of quotes to sales because the vehicle owner becomes more involved in the
decision-making process through education. This results in higher customer
satisfaction and increased service sales potential.
R.O. Writer users will have access to vehicle-specific service bulletins
and recall information with Delphi's technical service bulletin application.
These factory bulletins allow the Service Writer to identify vehicle recall
and service bulletin information, saving diagnostic time and improving shop
efficiency.
Also being introduced is Delphi's "Service Bay Quality Control (SBQC) for
Pocket PC" which is designed to work in conjunction with R.O. Writer Mobile.
While the R.O. Writer user is performing visual inspections at the vehicle
with their Pocket PC device, they can run Delphi's SBQC test, view reports and
save them to the R.O. Writer system which provides valuable access to the
vehicles data for future service needs. This application will also utilize
Delphi's wireless vehicle connection to improve mobility.
The R.O. Writer/Delphi equipped shop can add at any time Delphi's back
shop options including the RepairPoint diagnostic system delivered on wireless
tablet PCs and bi-directional scan tool applications.
The integration is made possible by leveraging the i.Shop standards for
shop connectivity, which is managed by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry
Association. "Without i.Shop this level of integration would not have been
practical," added Johnson. "Both R.O. Writer and Delphi have embraced these
standards that allow sharing of customer, shop and vehicle information between
front and back shop applications. When we first implemented the i.Shop
standards, this is the level of integration and efficiency we had envisioned
being possible."
Jim Nagy, director of development, R.O. Writer, added, "This level of
integration is a logical next step past the normal i.Shop integration since
both R.O. Writer and Delphi target similar customer demographics. It takes
steps out of the process for our joint customer base, which is what both the
R.O. Writer and Delphi products are all about."
The customers that take advantage of R.O. Writer mobile wireless shop
environment will be able to add Delphi functionality at an even lower cost,
since R.O. Writer and Delphi utilize the same commercial grade wireless
infrastructure. They can add Delphi's DS 800 Diagnostic System with wireless
Tablet PCs (that run R.O. Writer applications) to access Delphi's proprietary
Driver's Seat Diagnostics (DSD) interface and DirecTech diagnostic hotline
services to bring interactive information and assistance services to their
tablet PC desktop.

FORWARD LOOKING STATEMENT
This press release, as well as other statements made by Delphi may contain
forward-looking statements within the "safe harbor" provisions of the Private
Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995 that reflect, when made, the
Company's current views with respect to current events and financial
performance. Such forward-looking statements are and will be, as the case may
be, subject to many risks, uncertainties and factors relating to the Company's
operations and business environment which may cause the actual results of the
Company to be materially different from any future results, express or
implied, by such forward-looking statements. Factors that could cause actual
results to differ materially from these forward-looking statements include,
but are not limited to, the following: the ability of the Company to continue
as a going concern; the ability of the Company to operate pursuant to the
terms of the debtor-in-possession ("DIP") facility; the Company's ability to
obtain court approval with respect to motions in the chapter 11 proceeding
prosecuted by it from time to time; the ability of the Company to develop,
prosecute, confirm and consummate one or more plans of reorganization with
respect to the chapter 11 cases; risks associated with third parties seeking
and obtaining court approval to terminate or shorten the exclusivity period
for the Company to propose and confirm one or more plans of reorganization,
for the appointment of a chapter 11 trustee or to convert the cases to chapter
7 cases; the ability of the Company to obtain and maintain normal terms with
vendors and service providers; the Company's ability to maintain contracts
that are critical to its operations; the potential adverse impact of the
chapter 11 cases on the Company's liquidity or results of operations; the
ability of the Company to fund and execute its business plan; the ability of
the Company to attract, motivate and/or retain key executives and associates;
and the ability of the Company to attract and retain customers. Other risk
factors are listed from time to time in the Company's United States Securities
and Exchange Commission reports, including, but not limited to the Annual
Report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2004 and its most recent
quarterly report on Form 10-Q for the quarter ended September 30, 2005 and
current reports on Form 8-K. Delphi disclaims any intention or obligation to
update or revise any forward-looking statements, whether as a result of new
information, future events and/or otherwise.
Similarly, these and other factors, including the terms of any
reorganization plan ultimately confirmed, can affect the value of the
Company's various pre-petition liabilities, common stock and/or other equity
securities. Additionally, no assurance can be given as to what values, if
any, will be ascribed in the bankruptcy proceedings to each of these
constituencies. A plan of reorganization could result in holders of Delphi's
common stock receiving no distribution on account of their interest and
cancellation of their interests. As described in the Company's public
statements in response to the request submitted to the United States Trustee
for the appointment of a statutory equity committee, holders of Delphi's
common stock and other equity interests (such as options) should assume that
they will not receive value as part of a plan of reorganization. In addition,
under certain conditions specified in the Bankruptcy Code, a plan of
reorganization may be confirmed notwithstanding its rejection by an impaired
class of creditors or equity holders and notwithstanding the fact that equity
holders do not receive or retain property on account of their equity interests
under the plan. In light of the foregoing and as stated in its October 8,
2005 press release announcing the filing of its chapter 11 reorganization
cases, the Company considers the value of the common stock to be highly
speculative and cautions equity holders that the stock may ultimately be
determined to have no value. Accordingly, the Company urges that appropriate
caution be exercised with respect to existing and future investments in
Delphi's common stock or other equity interests or any claims relating to pre-
petition liabilities.
