DETROIT, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Emitec, Inc. manufactures particulate
matter (PM) METALIT(R), an innovative type of PM filter catalyst, which
significantly reduces diesel particulate emissions and is easy to retrofit.
"Emitec's PM METALIT(R) can reduce particulate matter by up to 80 percent,
depending on the engine application," said Mike Kerby, president of Emitec,
Inc. "In light of the steady increase in diesel vehicles' popularity, the PM
METALIT(R) is an important contribution to meeting emissions regulations
across the globe."
The PM METALIT(R) works on the principle of a partial flow filter,
diverting a portion of the exhaust gas as it travels down each channel of the
substrate through a stainless steel, sintered fleece fiber material. PM from
the exhaust gas is then deposited in the fleece material for oxidation through
a combination of heat and nitrogen dioxide.
A number of advantages are apparent with the PM METALIT(R). The device
does not require any additional ash removal or maintenance, which saves
significant costs and downtime compared to most competitive products. In
addition, the PM METALIT(R) is extremely efficient in reducing the smallest
particles, the nano-particles. Finally, relying on the principle of a partial
flow, the PM METALIT(R) avoids plugging or dramatic increases in backpressure
which many solutions exhibit.
PM METALIT(R) can be retrofitted to a wide range of vehicles, from
passenger cars to heavy duty truck and equipment engines. Due to its many
advantages, passenger and commercial vehicle manufacturers are already using
the PM METALIT(R) successfully in series production today.
