2.4MHz operating frequency, charge pump architecture, and small package
optimizes device for smallest programmable solution
MILPITAS, Calif., April 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sipex Corporation
(OTC: SXCP.PK) today announced the release of the SP7686, a single wire
dynamically programmable charge pump LED flash driver capable of driving up
to 500mA. This device simplifies the design of multi-condition LED lighting
when used for mobile phone camera flash, torch, pre-flash mode, and any
portable LED lighting applications.
Operating at an industry leading 2.4MHz switching frequency, the SP7686
requires only four small external components further reducing the overall
solution footprint to new levels. SP7686 features a typical 3.5 second
timeout in Flash mode which prevents the LED from over-heating during long
operating duty cycles. The programmable LED current also allows designers
to reduce currents as the battery gets low to prevent false system resets
thus extending useful battery life.
The family also includes the SP7686A which eliminates the single wire
interface but provides two separate control pins for enable and Torch/Flash
select. The Flash current is preset to 400mA, and the torch current is set
to 150mA. These LED Flash Drivers enable a wide range of LED lighting
applications with minimum external components require and completely
effortless design in today's application. Both products offered in a tiny
2mm x 3mm DFN package making them the smallest single wire control LED
drivers on the market today.

SP7686 and SP7686A are available in a Pb-free, thermally enhanced 8-pin
2x3mm DFN package and is specified over the -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C
