Transkaryotic Therapies, Inc. (Nasdaq: TKTX) today announced that Daniel E.
Geffken has resigned as Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial
Officer of TKT, effective April 18, 2003.
"Over the past six years, Dan was a key part of the senior management team
and spearheaded TKT's fundraising activities that were used to develop our
product pipeline and launch Replagal in Europe. We are grateful for all his
contributions," said Mr. Michael J. Astrue, President and Chief Executive
Officer of TKT. "Dan will be missed by his colleagues and we wish him success
in the future."
Prior to joining TKT in February 1997, Mr. Geffken, 46, was Vice President
and Chief Financial Officer of CytoTherapeutics, Inc. and held positions at
The Andersen Group, Inc., MedChem Products, Inc. and KPMG Peat Marwick.
During his eleven years in the biotechnology industry, he has raised more than
$600 million in debt and equity financings. He received a B.S. in Economics
from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Harvard
Business School. Mr. Geffken serves on the Board of Directors of Shelter,
Inc., a non-profit organization providing services and housing for the
homeless, and BioValve Technologies, Inc., a privately held drug delivery
company.
TKT is a biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutics for the
treatment of rare genetic diseases caused by protein deficiencies. The
