Grocery Chain Donates Thousands of Dollars Worth of Sports Equipment, Toys,
Clothes and Food Products to the East Los Angeles Boys and Girls Club
LOS ANGELES, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 1,000 boys and girls in
East Los Angeles will soon be having a ball thanks to a special donation from
Food 4 Less, the nation's largest price-impact supermarket chain.
Food 4 Less has donated more than $7,000 in sports equipment, toys,
clothes and flavored drink mixes to the East Los Angeles Boys and Girls Club.
The donation includes soccer balls, caps and t-shirts, and crayons and
washable coloring boards. Children enrolled in the youth organization's
sports and academic programs will use the donation.
"This is a wonderful gift," said Fred Aguiar, executive director of the
East Los Angeles Boys and Girls Club. "We are grateful to companies, such as
Food 4 Less, that understand the importance of giving something back to the
communities where they do business."
Food 4 Less has a history of supporting the communities it serves that
dates back to 1988 when the company opened its first store.
"We are pleased to be an active citizen in East Los Angeles and we are
proud to contribute to the Boys and Girls Club, which is doing so many
positive things for our youth," said Dave Hirz, president of Food 4 Less
Stores. "In a small way, our donation to the East Los Angeles Boys and Girls

community."

support is demonstrated by employee involvement with the local schools, youth
sports leagues, and other civic and charitable organizations.
"We are pleased to be a part of the East Los Angeles community," Hirz
said. "Together with the team members staffing our stores here, we hope this
donation to the Boys and Girls Club, along with our previous efforts in the
community, will assist in making East Los Angeles a better place in which to
live, work and raise children."
