Wallace Wireless Introduces Emergency Mapping Application for the BlackBerry

Wallace Emergency Locator Brings GPS-Based Mapping to the BlackBerry

WASHINGTON, April 6 /PRNewswire/ - FOSE -- Wallace Wireless, the leading
developer of wireless crisis communication software, today announced the
release of the Wallace Emergency Locator (WEL). WEL combines powerful mapping
technology from ESRI Technologies with Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
location-based services.
With the Wallace Emergency Locator, BlackBerry users can now locate key
team members in a crisis and see their locations plotted on a single map. With
one click of the BlackBerry handheld, users can request and receive back a map
with highlighted team member locations.
The Wallace Emergency Locator works internationally with ESRI
Technologies, a leading provider of GIS-based maps. According to Jonathon
Spinney of ESRI, "Customers have been looking for an integrated wireless
mapping solution, and WEL for the BlackBerry allows both our ArcGIS and ArcWeb
Services customers to make their maps available wirelessly on all BlackBerry
wireless handhelds."
There is growing demand to provide this type of mobile intelligence. With
a glance of a map on a BlackBerry handheld, a user will know where they are
and where they're going - and have a visual understanding of how long it will
take to arrive. With support for location-based services on the BlackBerry
platform, the user will be able to see the answers to "Where is my team?,"
"Where am I?," "Where am I going?" and "How do I get there?"
WEL provides location-based support for Wallace Wireless' Business
Continuity and Emergency Response wireless solution, the Wallace Incident
Communicator (WIC). WIC allows mobile professionals from any company,
government agency or military office to quickly access their most current
emergency measure documents, notifications, maps, floor plans, call lists and
live images via BlackBerry.
"There has been a strong demand from our customers to be able to visually
locate their team members during a crisis," said Wallace President Rob Moffat.
"By combining WIC with location-based services for BlackBerry, we are now able
to provide emergency mapping locator support to our customers."
