New Firewall, VPN and Caching Security Appliances Deliver High-Performance
Network Security at an Affordable Price
WASHINGTON, FOSE, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Corrent(R) Corporation
announced a new series of purpose-built security appliances based on Microsoft
Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004. Corrent, a leading
innovator in network security, has helped secure some of the nation's largest
government and private networks. With this new line of appliances, Corrent
delivers advanced network protection that is affordable and powerful, yet easy
to deploy and to manage.
Corrent's two new Microsoft ISA Server 2004 based appliances, the SR125
and the SR225, are ideal for government agencies and organizations already
utilizing Microsoft applications. Delivering ISA Server 2004's advanced
application firewall, VPN and Web caching capabilities, these appliances offer
unbeatable protection when securing Microsoft applications and networking
environments -- such as Exchange Server and Outlook Web Access.
"Effectively securing the network can be a matter of business survival or
of national defense," said Richard Takahashi, CEO of Corrent Corporation.
"Our goal is to make high performance network security more accessible and
affordable. Corrent's new appliances are easy to deploy and easy to manage,
making secure networks an achievable goal for a wide spectrum of agencies and
organizations."
Both new Corrent appliances are 1U rack-mountable units with multiple
Gigabit interfaces, swappable hard drives, and built-in LCD panels for local
status and control. The SR125 uses an Intel Pentium 4 processor for firewall
processing, while the SR225 uses an Intel Xeon processor. For maximum
throughput, the SR225 also includes Corrent's ASIC-based VPN acceleration
technology. According to the company's internal tests, Corrent's new series
of appliances offers firewall and VPN throughput that is substantially greater
than other ISA Server 2004-based appliances currently on the market.
"We're absolutely committed to helping government agencies and
organizations build a more secure computing infrastructure," said Steve Brown,
Director of Product Management, Security Business and Technology Unit,
Microsoft Corp. "Working with companies like Corrent benefits our customers
giving them more options and flexibility in how they address their security
challenges."
Affordable High Performance
Corrent's ISA Server 2004 based appliances offer distinct performance and
ease-of-use advantages:
* Faster performance -- Corrent's patented hardware and VPN acceleration
technologies deliver a faster throughput rate. Large packet firewall
performance ranges from 400 Mbps for the SR125 to 2 Gbps for the
SR225. VPN acceleration is standard on the SR225.
* Easier to deploy -- Corrent security appliances are easy to install
and support. Wizards and guides provide further educational guidance
for IT teams already familiar with Microsoft software.
* Easier to manage -- A browser-based management interface and remote
management capabilities make Corrent appliances easy to configure and
to manage.
* More secure -- According to Meta Group, human error is a factor in
more than 50% of all information security failures. * Corrent
appliances come pre-loaded and pre-configured with a hardened version
of Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft ISA Server 2004, reducing the
possibility for human error when deploying and maintaining security
equipment, even by experienced IT personnel.
* Higher value -- Corrent is one of today's price/performance leaders in
Network Security technology, offering advanced technology and high
performance at competitive price points.
* Better warranty -- All Corrent appliances come standard with a limited
three-year hardware warranty.
