Nationwide Announces New Board Members

    COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Nationwide today announced the
election of Daniel T. Kelley and Barry Nalebuff to the Board of Directors
for Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company and Nationwide Mutual Fire
Insurance Company. Kelley and Nalebuff were each elected to three-year
terms and fill the seats of David O. Miller and Willard J. Engel, who are
both retiring from the Board.
    "Dan and Barry add valuable economic and financial experience to the
Nationwide board," said Chairman Arden L. Shisler. "Their individual areas
of expertise will add depth to an already outstanding Board of Directors
and will help Nationwide address the increasingly complex issues of
corporate governance and business development."
    Kelley is chairman of the board and president of GROWMARK, Inc. and
operates a grain farm near Normal, Ill., in partnership with his two
brothers. He is a director of Denver-based CoBank and Evergreen FS, Inc. in
Bloomington, Ill., serving as president since 1985.
    Kelley has served as a director of Farmland Mutual Insurance Company,
which is part of Nationwide Agribusiness, since May 2003. Kelley has
received many accolades and awards in the agribusiness community, including
Director of the Year by the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives in
2002.
    A graduate of Illinois State University, Kelley holds a bachelor's
degree in agriculture and now serves on the university's Alumni Board of
Directors. His family includes his wife, three children and seven
grandchildren.
    Nalebuff is the Milton Steinbach Professor of Management at the Yale
University School of Management. He has been published on a wide variety of
subjects and is a leading authority on corporate strategy and innovation.
His most recent book, Why Not?, focuses on providing a strategic framework
for problem solving and ingenuity.
    Nalebuff holds bachelor degrees in economics and mathematics from
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as master's and doctorate
degrees in economics from Oxford University. He lives in New Haven, Conn.,
with his wife and their two children.
